The Pius Selenke #43 rail was built in 1961 and raced till 1963. Charley Hiner and Ray Riner drove it. It sat in the north end of Wichita for 30 plus years. It was found 2 years ago. It's powered by a big flathead Mercury.
Just another restoration by Dwane Wolf who also found it.

The #88 as it sets in the pits at Mid America Speedway in South Coffeyville OK in 2007. This 100" super was owned by Danny & Naomi King of Jetmore, KS in 70's. Dave Frusher, Terry Uehling, Randy Jones, Jon Johnson and others piloted the #88.

If anyone has any more photos of this car or of Walt McWhorter's car that's in the background please post them. I would love to see them!

Super out of Enid, Oklahoma built and raced by Larry Melvin. The chassis is a Nance kit and the body is a Nance also. One of my nurses from SICU who took care of me after my heart transplant owns Haven Sign in Haven, KS and he did the hand lettering for me.

Good looking car.
Kyle , Are you going to have your car out anytime this fall at any meets or on display at any races?

JD,
The car's first outing will be here in Amarillo at RT66 speedway probably on Sept. 15. We are also going to the Texhoma racers reunion at the end of September in Wichita Falls. The only thing we are waiting on is for JE to remachine our pistons. Are you going to the Wichita Falls deal?

Yes the nose is the one from Speedway. The rest of the glass is the original Nance body.

Only half as much as I'm looking forward to seeing yours. I remember watching your dad at 81.

I have to ask. Why don't they plan these dates (Wichitaa Falls, Wichita Ks.) on different weekends next year?

Kyle, Going to try to make it down for at least the afternoon, sure would like to see your dad's restored car in person.
Remember the Jack B. Kelley Co. car #6 well back in the NCRA Super Modified days.
Your dad and Bob Cody would show up at Lawton back in the late 70's on a Sat. night when Amarillo would rain out early and usually one of them went home with an A Feature win.
Curious whatever happened to I think it was Gene Dodson who owned the Pants West Levi store in Amarillo? I still see Jack B. Kelley Co. tanker trucks going up and down the interstates on occasion, they are still in Amarillo?.
I saw a post by you a while back about the Buchanon Bros. painted the car for you , Gene bought your dad's car after he got out of it and drove it , would that be correct, are they still out in Amarillo too and what was his brothers name?.
Whatever happened to Kenny Stidd and Jiggs Founds and Ron Glass and Roland Brunson Jr. , I see Bob Cody at the Chili Bowl , he sits down on the front straight , have talked to him before along with the late Dale Reed who sit right in front of us one year at the Chili Bowl , he was a lot of fun to talk to those 4 nights. Lot's of stories about the NCRA and Merrick Circuit days.

I'm looking forward to WF deal... there will be alot of neat people there.
Wayne Dodson owned Pants West, I don't know where he is... Gene Buchanan painted the car, his twin brother Jerry died a couple of years ago, but his name is on the car showing that he helped with the paint. JBK is still based out of Amarillo, and they are as excited about the restoration as we are. Kenny Stidd, Dennis Glass, Bob Cody, and Jiggs Founds are still around here. Jiggs is in the process of restoring one of his old supers right now. Roland Brunson died, but his son Tommy lives here.
You should see the race car. We have all of the body off waiting to put the engine in... it looks so cool! I'll take a photo soon.
