Lasoski and Roth Motorsports Join World of Outlaws for 2007 Racing Season
By Bob Jones November 17, 2006
Danny Lasoski and Dennis Roth will enter the Roth Motorsports machine into the race for the 2007 World of Outlaws championship. Following a successful season highlighted with 18 feature wins and the inaugural NST Championship, Lasoski and Roth feel joining the WoO is the best decision for their team, the sport and most importantly the fans.
Dennis Roth's involvement in sprint car racing spans decades, and the Roth Motorsports machines he fields have long been viewed as potent weapons amongst the premier traveling series'. His decision to join the World of Outlaws weighed heavily on the betterment of the sport as a whole. "Everyone involved with Roth Motorsports team are very happy to have won the NST Championship and it was an honor to be involved with Fred Brownfield's series. We have a tremendous amount of respect for Fred, the entire Brownfield family and what Fred envisioned for his series. For a second series to thrive it would have taken a very strong leader, such as Fred, to guide and direct it throughout the stages of development. When Fred was taken from us, I think a lot of us questioned who could possibly fill that void. We had to take a serious look at the state of the sport and do what we feel is best for everyone involved," said Roth.
When asked about what helped guide their decision, Danny Lasoski said, "This past season has been tough on everyone involved from the split fields to the difficult choices we were faced with. Everyone out here wants what is best for their own teams, but there comes a time when you ask yourself what is best for the sport, the promoters and the fans. The fans make this all possible so we have to take a lot of stock into their feedback. All year long we kept hearing that everyone wants to see the best of the best race together every night and I think the fans deserve that. Judging from what we've learned this past year I think that formula is critical to allow our sport to grow, or even survive," said Lasoski.
"Many of the issues behind the split have been addressed with DIRT's management restructuring. I raced with them enough this past year to see they have done a great job in listening to the racers concerns and addressing them accordingly. But the bottom line is we race for a living. If I had my way I'd race every night. Even after all the rainouts, this past season we managed to race 94 nights and that still wasn't enough for me. Our team raced wherever we wanted, with whatever series we wanted because we just wanted to race. Going forward I want to race with a series that can provide a solid schedule, point fund and television package to help our sponsors. In my opinion, the World of Outlaws have been able to put all those things together. I look forward to the day when we are all back together under one banner and this puts us one step closer," said Lasoski.

I have never been much of a Danny Lasoski fan and probably never will be nor want to be but kudos to Danny and Roth Motorsports on this decision. As a sprint car fan, I thank you and respect you for your decision. Just waiting for more driver announcements concerning the same.

couldn't WoO have spared us Becca Anderson and Bill Rose? Maybe even Dion Hindi?
this leaves no room for the other NST drivers to jump back on the bandwagon. And as much as I didn't like the NST.........not having room for about 7 or 8 of the NST guys to race WoO full time if NST doesn't make it is NOT good. Most probably think I've been praying for NST to fall and their drivers to go away. Thats not true at all. Like everyone else I wanted to see the best race together again........and keeping Rose, Anderson, and Hindi this won't happen. They should have left room for a few more of the NST guys to come back if that doesn't make it. Geez! They would have been better off swapping the horrible 3 for Tony Bruce Jr., Travis Rilat, and somebody else. It's not best of the best unless they get Tim Kaeding, Jason Sides, Jason Meyers, and/or Steve Kinser back. It's screwed up there is actually about 30 or more teams willing to go full time with WoO.

I wouldn't be suprised to see more drivers "jump" back to the WOO with the TV deals they have put togather this next year. The NST failed to put togather a full schedule this past year and nothing is set for next year yet as far as a schedule, TV deal, or a major sponsor goes. We will have to wait and see I guess but it doesn't look good for NST

win lose or draw, the NST forced the WoO to implement the "next" level that was promised 20 years ago.
As far as the drivers go, I think both series put on some good races, and still think, one or two drivers are not the best unless they are with the rest.

Hats off to Danny Lasoski and Dennis Roth. Only three World of Outlaw slots left. I also enjoyed Lasoski's interview on Dirt Nation last Monday night as well. He said he hoped there would only be one series and he seemed open to at least a tire rule.

Too bad so sad for the NST ship jumpers................
They are the ones that followed the Pied Piper to the promise land like a bunch of lemmings and now you think the WoO should take care of them????
Kudos to WoO/DIRT for taking care of the drivers that supported them in 06!!!

FTP1 I don't have a dog in this fight, but just from life's lessons I AGREE totally with you. Hindi, Anderson, Rose are entitled to, at least in 2007 to be back with the group. If the Outlaws want to do something different in 08 then they can. I for one admire DIRTS loyalty to the "little guys" oh ... and girls. It would have p!ssed me off greatly if they didn't show them some loyalty.

Dont jump too soon. I hear that there is no contracts for 07, just the top 20 in points will get the tow money each night. If this is true and more NST guys jump back to WOO, some of the 06 WOOs could struggle for tow money. Just what I am hearing from what I consider a good source since they have raced with the WOO's.
Life's short, race hard!!!

The story I was told is X amount of drivers will be under contract and X amount of positions in points will be up for grabs to get "tow" money.
You stay in the X positions you get "tow" money if someone knocks you out of X positions they get the "tow" money.
Who knows??? Guess we'll find out soon enough......................................
