Just a quick note to all of my friends - my dad passed away this evening at 7:00 pm. For those that didn't already know he was sick, he developed cancer in his bladder that spread throughout his body. He did not know he had cancer until about 2 weeks ago after spending a week in the hospital for what he thought was a sore back from shoveling snow. He had surgery a few years ago for a non-cancerous prostate issue, and he also had heart surgery prior to that to put in a pacemaker. His health was dwindling and he had some issues that he thought were from his 2 previous surgeries, but there was no real indication that he was rapidly developing small cell cancer and a very aggressive tumor. He waited way too long to see a doctor about the problems he was having and had to have emergency surgery last Tuesday to remove his bladder and a tumor the size of the doctor's fist. They said it also had spread to his liver and more than likely his bone marrow. We were blindsided by this news and devastated as a family. One week after his surgery he is no longer with us. He never really recovered and never made it out of the ICU. He was much too weak and the cancer was far too advanced. There was nothing more they could have done - they tried their best to save him. We are thankful for the thoughts and prayers directed our way. It has been a rough 3 week roller coaster ride of emotions. However, we couldn't stand to see him suffer for one more day and we try to take some comfort in knowing he is now in a better place, looking down on all of us from the big race track in the sky. I'm sure his chariot is painted orange and has the #7-p on it. He will be greatly missed!!!!!

I will let everyone know when the funeral arrangements have been made. Please continue to pray for him and our family.

God Speed, Danny...the old #7-p races on in our hearts.

Your family is in my thoughts. RIP --Pappa Swamp!

Think of all the good times you had with him and and think of something funny he did or said, it will bring some much needed smiles to your face. It works sometimes with funeral families I deal with on a reg. basis.

I'm glad he didn't suffer long.

Later, Jersey

Something keeps tugging at us and telling us there is something after this life. I'm going to go with the mainstream on this one and believe he is up there with his friends, family and racing buddies that have passed on. Maybe this time old sheet metal and used tires won't be so hard to find. Godspeed to the modified Man. I know a thing or two about orange race cars and great dads.

Support our troops. Their hearts still believe in us.

...I have had the honor of meeting Swamp's dad more then once...Swamp and I would usually drop the little Swampettes at Grampa's on our way to the track...Mr. Autullo always had a hello and a friendly handshake for me, not to mention an occasional funny story of his racing days...the last couple years seeing him on the way to the track has become as routine as the walk through the pits before the races...and that I will miss !!!...

...God Speed Mr. Autullo...you have given to the sport we all love, and for that we thank you !

...Swamp, how about this to put a smile on your face..."You guys are gonna drive all that way and not see any races...IT'S GONNA RAIN !"...sound familiar...

Another thing in common with Chris and I Swamp and it comes the hard way, sorry. Take care of the rest of the family as much as you can right now, you're big, strong and mentally tough, you can do it. I know one thing, he's got a good seat with some friends of ours for that first Outlaw show at the Big E in a few weeks. All the very best, Take It Easy.....

Sorry to hear. Not much I can say that hasn't already been said except, based on what I saw last weekend for a couple of Calistoga kids who died WAY too young, if you can make all memorial arangments a celebration of your father's life it would be a good way to send him off. I wish you the strength your family needs to get through this difficult time.
