This goes out to any of the photographers who will be at Placerville tomorrow:

There are some pictures I was planning on taking tomorrow in an effort to get the speedway in the 2008 calendar - obviously I won't be there due to the events of this week. I have always believed that Placerville is one of the most unique speedways in the country when you combine the red clay with the terrain that the race track operates in. What I was hoping to do was take shots of the speedway from different angles and experiment with different exposures at various times of the evening. If anyone there is going to have a professional digital SLR camera please set the resolution to the maximum possible - here is a list of some of the things I was going to try:

Shots looking back at the speedway from the outside of turn two at Various times (perhaps with all the cars parked in the infield for qualifying looking back up the hill including the grandstands if possible. Perhaps using a slow shutter on a tripod from this angle during a heat race as the sun sets behind the grandstands.)

Shots from various angles from the top of the hill that really show what this place is about.

Shots of the cars coming off of turn 4 from the top of the hill and (if you can pull it off and perhaps even more interesting) shots of the cars from the top of the hill in turn 3 as they exit turn 4 (obviously you would get the left side of the car from an angle that is very difficult to get pretty much anywhere)

Basically be creative and take advantage of all the possibilities this place provides

Non photography related: If someone can please go have a beer (or two or three....) at Placerville Brewing Company and let me know what you think of the place. I've never been and am curious about how good their beers are.

Otherwise I just hope everyone has a great time and sees some great racing!
