Brian Cannon joins Elite Racing

By Gary Thomas

Clovis, CA - March 22, 2007... Talented California crew chief Brian Cannon has parted ways with Circle Racing Wheels Motorsports and has joined forces with the potent California Elite Racing team, which is made up of drivers Ronnie Day and Ric McCormack.

Cannon, who parted ways with A & A Motorsports following the ‘06 racing season, gives a big thanks to Mike Stallings of Circle Racing Wheels for the opportunity to begin the ‘07 season. "They’ve given the world to me and I thank them for the opportunity," Cannon said. By parting ways with Mike Stallings, Cannon is no longer affiliated with Circle Racing Wheels.

The chance to work with Elite Racing is a once in a lifetime opportunity however, and it’s something that couldn’t be passed up by Cannon as he will work for one of the top teams on the West Coast, which is headed by Guy Stockbridge and Jason Meyers. Salinas veteran Ronnie Day is the main driver for the California Elite Racing team and was the 2000 Golden State Challenge King of California Series champion. Day hasn't won a sprint car race since July 16 of 2005, but adding Cannon gives him a huge boost.

Day has had a slow start to the 2007 season as he currently ranks 12th in the GSC point standings, but Cannon hopes to lend a big hand in getting him back near the top of the standings. Cannon’s expertise at the tracks like Silver Dollar Speedway and Placerville Speedway should be a big help in getting Day to the point where can get back into contention for the GSC title.

Last season Cannon tuned the A & A Motorsports team to the Silver Dollar Speedway track championship and the Civil War Series championship, as well as wins in the Pacific Sprint Fall Nationals in Chico, the Tribute to Al Hinds in Placerville and countless others.

Joining the Elite Racing team is a great opportunity for the 24-year-old and gives him a strong shot at winning his first career Golden State Challenge Series race. "Working with the Elite team gives me a great chance to win my first GSC race and I’m really excited about that," Cannon commented.

Cannon’s first night working with the team will be this Friday in Watsonville and then the following night they will compete with the Golden State Challenge Series at the high-banked Placerville Speedway.

This seems like a great combination and I hope Ronnie Day has some better luck this weekend! I heard many drivers are going to Ocean Speedway for the 1st 360 race of the new Wright One Constuction 10 race series. Looking at the schedule it is possible for a team to run both GSC and the 10 race series at Ocean Speedway and eventually Silver Dollar will start its 410 series on Friday nights.

wtg Brian! Good luck!

Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool,
but then I'm not 16 so therefore my opinion is of no
consequence...

As of 5:00 pm March 22, 2007 I am no longer an employee of Elite Racing Team, LLc. I have been informed that my position has been filled by another person. Now I know who has filled it.

Sorry to hear that Jake. The sport we all love can be cruel at times.

I wish you the best of luck with whatever you end up doing.

And in the same breath, I wish good luck to Brian at Elite Racing.
