Figured that would get some attention...Imagine if this message board existed back in........well, anyone remember in '92 at the Eagle Nationals when Sammy got fined $500 for taking Steve out... and then, Steve getting fined $2,500 for shoving a WoO official outta the way and punching Sammy in the face on the frontstretch? I would have loved to read the Sammy vs. Steve posts then, except it probably would have taken two days to read 'em all!!!!
Fenders are like vacuums... they both suck.

Yeah, The 1992 Eagle Nationals "Choke-Hold"...
Sammy Swindell started next to Steve Kinser on the front row at the start of the Bar's Leaks Dash. The two Champions exited the fourth corner side-by-side. Before they reached the flag stand, Kinser drifts high, Swindell (assumes) Kinser is forcing him to the outside retaining wall. Swindell slows down and attempts to cut behind Kinser. Swindell's efforts came a split second before Kinser cleared, leaving Swindell to clip Kinser's rear bumper sending Kinser into the outside wall.
Andy Hillenburg then ran over Kinser's right rear tire, sending him on his side and bringing out the red. Kinser jumped out of his car and walked down the front straight in the direction of Swindell.
Kinser was warned by WoO Competition Director Bobby Jackson, that any physical action between he and Swindell would result in a fine. Kinser assured Jackson that he only wanted to talk to Swindell. Despite the efforts of WoO Operations Director, Rick Ferkel, Kinser continued to pursue Swindell. Finally reaching Swindell, Kinser shouts at the rival and an altercation ensued with Kinser getting Swindell into a brief choke-hold. Kinser, who had to be restrained by Ferkel, was fined $500 for his part in instigating the scuffle.
Couple of other memorable "discussions":
1993 Historical Big One...Security was called when Eldora Track Official Rick Nichols was near the 2nd place finisher, Mark Kinser. Nichols was getting ready to check the engine size when Kinser crew member Joe "Tube" Houck then grabbed Nichols in a headlock from behind and jumped on his back, sending both men to the ground. Houck was fined $500 by the Eldora Speedway Officials.
1991 King's Royal-Johnny Herrera and Lary Helms tangle in the Fourth Heat Race and a heated exchange between Herrera, Helms (still strapped in his car) and Helms crew members which result in Herrera being escorted off the Speedway as he may have struck an Official trying to break up the discussion.
Ahhhhh, Racin' Deals. Now a guy says words often heard on broadcast TV and he marked as the Anti-Christ...

Anyone at Lawton Speedway when Kevin Ramey and Foster Landon had a little meeting on the exit of turn 4 at end of the A-main during the ASCS Speedweek?? Things did not fair too well for Foster...

Michael your version of the Eagle Nats. story sounds a little more accurate. From what I remember reading Steve didn't get a punch in but did get a hold of Sammy. Someone took a good picture of the scuffle. It made Open Wheel a few times. Shows Ferkel pulling Steve away from Sammy. If anyone out there can track it down please post it. Comparing Rick to Steve size wise, I'd rather mess with Steve than the Ohio Traveler anyday!
I remember seeing some photos of Steve and Hillenburg wrecking at Calistoga in 94. Photos of the wreck and the pit scuffle of course made Open Wheel. Looked like Andy was taking Steve down.

That Kinser/Hillenberg deal at Calistoga is still a vivid memory in my mind. I would only been 7 but I sure as heck remember the reaction from the crowd. Priceless memories.

The Hillenberg/Kinser deal happened right in front of me and I got 4 shots off of the wreck. Unfortunately due to my lack of organization I'd be hard pressed to find them. Grove Hill used them in his Flips, Wheelies, and Photo Finishes ad that year. I have some pictures of the scuffle too but it is hard to really tell what is going on. What happened is that Karl's relatively young crew guy Shawn started mouthing off about what a "no driving hillbilly" or something to that affect within earshot of Andy. What I remember next was the sound of Andy's helmet hitting the bottom of the top wing as he tossed it in an effort to to get out of the car and get at Shawn. Steve's only involvement was to try and pull Shawn away from Andy and I overheard him telling Karl a short time later that Shawn had no business being there. What I remember most, however, was that Steve stayed and signed autographs next to the wrecked car until they turned the lights out - THEN - partied with the rest of us over along pit road. Anyone remember a night where dickhead......errrrrr.....Sammy did anything like that on a night like this? (sounds of crickets chirping) If you really want a good read pick up Dave Argabright's "Wild Night at Lawrenceburg" in "Still Wide Open". At least Hewitt got one good punch in on the arrogant prick that night.

Let it go Chris, you wouldn't know the difference between arrogance and shyness if it punched you in the nose, lol. Sammy is both but earned the arrogant part the old fasioned way, being one of the best that ever strapped in. You need to email me the reason for your wrath and the ability to not 'let it go' after all these years, sheesh. Take It Easy.....
PS When I saw this thread you were the first person that came to mind, I only wish I would have said something before you posted, my bad, lol....

Oh I've seen plenty enough to know that Sammy is both shy AND arrogant. The problem is that the driver's position, if they REALLY want to be successful that is, one that really calls for an extrovert. Why do I know this so well? Because what a lot of people don't realize about me is that I am technically an introverted person. That's right. Been through every personality profile out there and I come out introvert every time. So I know the signs. I keep hammering away on Sammy for the same reason you pick on the Posse - it's both fun AND easy. You're gonna get a rise out of somebody EVERY TIME. YOU should be smart enough to see that when I do it and I'm just a little bit surprised when a smart guy like you who really knows the game is one of the first to respond. We really should probably find a more challenging endeavor though......

Michael98 and Petey: I apologize if I was wrong about the punching of Sammy, instead of just a choke hold. But , from what I remember in the Lincoln ( NE ) newspaper from the next day, they both got fined for their actions.

Hey don't sweat it! At least you brought it up and it made for some good conversating and made me remember the Kinser/Hillenburg scuffle at Calistoga.
A lot of people know I'm a Swindell fan but he and Dollansky got into it at Sedalia two years ago and that one got a lot of talk here. Pretty sure it was Sammy's fault. I'll admit he does some stuff that I don't agree with.

Ah heck, what about in the mid 80's when Steve and the Swindell brothers seemed to tango quite often. Or Ronnie Danials and Sammy for that matter.

Guys, I haven't posted in weeks, but Chris just referred to himself as an "introvert" and I just spit coffee all over my monitor laughing.
