Christ's peace to the family. Thanks for all the fast race cars Dave.

The hopeless desire to outrun Bud Grimm's Fords is
why central PA became the toughest place to race on
the planet. Even the KING couldn't run with Casey
Luna's Fords on a tacky track. It's a crying shame
that current car owners failed to notice.

Much respect. RIP Mr. Helm.

Another tough loss! I first met Dave at Skagit. It was the '90 or '91 Dirt Cup I believe. Rick Freund had him on board as a sponsor and Steve Kent was gonna drive the car later that year....or maybe the next. Rick came up to me at my t-shirt trailer and introduced us. Rick was saying that Dave's house had just burned down and he lost all his racing t-shirts....asked me if I could outfit Dave. I gave him a handful of new tees and Dave was very grateful. I found out later about all his Shell stations.....HAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! I always busted his chops for that. Of course, Dave would give me a new tee when he saw me out on the road. Dave was a good man....I'm gonna miss him.

We had the privilege of meeting the Selma Shell team staying at the motel in Knoxville and found Mr.Helm to be a charming and interesting man whose team members reflected that same quiet way about themselves.A man is always known for his friends and in this respect Dave Helm and his crew stood head and shoulders above the rest. Some of the people who traveled with him went back a long way with the man who represented Selma Shell, and our hearts go out to those who have suffered the greatest loss, his family and friends.

Vaya con dios ! There will always be a place for men like this at that great race track in the sky.
