RIP, Greg....
The last time I saw Greg race was a USAC pavement show at the now defunct Heidelberg Raceway in Pittsburgh, PA; he got hung on the fence! And it took a while to get him down, as I recall....But always a good shoe...

He was the speaker at Bench Racing Weekend in Indianapolis earlier this year. Very interesting person.

Very sad.....I grew up watching the Welds in KC in the early 60's. What a great crew of sprint/supermodified racers passed through in that era! In '63 and '64, though, Greg was absolutely untouchable in that #92 gold and blue roadster that the family built. RIP

RIP to one of the greatest of all open wheel racers. You can't think of Knoxville or that great era of supermodified racing in and around KC without having memories of Greg Weld and family. Greg did more by the time he was 25 in racing than most could ever hope to accomplish in a lifetime.

Very sad to hear about Greg Weld. My husband drove for the family and always spoken very highly of them all. I have heard many stories about the old racing days with the Weld family. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Pat Woodside

What an amazing family. Hopefully somebody is working on a book on the Welds. RIP Greg.

Greg Weld was one of my hero's as a kid. That little gold roadster was sooo cool!
Then the Don Brown roadster. How 'bout the "riot" that got the Weld's "banned for life!" Good stuff!!
The one thing I don't know is, did he have health problems? I'm not aware.
