“TOYOTA CHALLENGE” CONTINUES THURSDAY AT ORP

JULY 21, 2008 --- Thursday night’s USAC “doubleheader” at O’Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis, Ind. features the Mopar National Midgets and the K & N Silver Crown Championship machines. The Midget race is round two of three “Toyota Challenge” events at the storied oval.

Defending “Toyota Challenge” runner-up Klatt Enterprises of Hastings, Neb. leads the standings after Bobby East’s victory in the May 24 “Night Before the 500” classic at ORP. The “Toyota Challenge” concludes September 12 at the Indianapolis track.

Defending “Toyota Champion” car owner Keith Kunz Motorsports hopes to improve on their uncharacteristic “Night Before the 500” results when the Midgets attack ORP Thursday. Darren Hagen and Cole Whitt are the regular drivers for Kunz. Whitt is currently third and Hagen seventh in the National standings.

East hopes to keep his car owner atop the Toyota standings after Klatt fell four points shy of the title in 2007. East trails Tracy Hines by only three points in the Mopar National Midget standings entering the event. Hines is attempting to put a lid on the USAC “Triple Crown,” having previously won USAC’s K & N Silver Crown and National Sprint Car crowns. He would become the fifth driver to accomplish the feat, joining Tony Stewart, Dave Darland, Pancho Carter and J.J. Yeley.
