THE “RIPPER” RETURNS TO THE PAS FRIDAY By Robert Mayson
Lakewood, Calif…2004 USAC/CRA Champion Rip Williams, Yorba Linda, Calif., plans to return to action this Friday night when the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA sprint car series heads back to the Perris Auto Speedway for the running of the Budweiser Firecracker 30 presented by Temecula Valley Pipe & Supply.
Williams suffered a badly broken left foot while charging to the front during the season opener a Perris on February 8th. Although disappointed with the injury, Williams returns to the cockpit confident that he can quickly return to form.
“I’m looking forward to getting back into the car,” Williams said. “My car really felt good during the opener and I feel like we can pick up right where we left off.”
During his recovery period, Williams’ son Cody took over the driving duties of the Jack & Sharon Jory No. 3. With Rip returning to his familiar black No. 3, Cody will remain with the Jory Team driving their new blue No. 44 sprinter.
