Fred Rahmer (10^th car out to time) set the standard in time trials with a lap around the banked 1/3 mile oval at 12.024 seconds. Alan Cole (5^th car out) was second quick, followed by Doug Esh (8^th), Brian Leppo (9^th), Jeff Shepard (12^th), Mark Smith (21^st), Cody Darrah (7^th), Lance Dewease (13^th), Chad Layton (20^th) and Brian Paulus (2^nd). Rahmer drew a four for the feature invert

10 lap heats had an invert of six and took six to the main event. S. Smith led throughout but had to hold off Montieth at the line. Paulus was in fourth went the car went up in flames on lap six. He was unhurt but done for the night. Schlosberg was running in the final transfer before stumbling with two to go in turns one and two. Weller pounced on the opportunity for sixth.

Carber led the distance, holding off Shaffer in a mostly single-file affair around the top.

Hahn led at the outset with pressure from Hodnett. When Hahn slowed behind lapped traffic on lap nine, Hodnett pounced for the win.

Schoenly came to a stop before a lap could be completed. The second try ended in a caution for a jumped start, resulting in three cars getting together on the backstretch: Gordon, Schoffstall and Cooper, who left on the hook. Once underway, Schlosberg led flag to flag in the 10-lapper taking six to the A.

Leppo pulled away from the field in the early going on the high side in the 35-lapper. Five laps in, Schlauch Jr. spun, collecting Stillwaggon, Esh, who was running second, and Layton who flattened a tire running seventh. Esh and Layton made repairs and restarted at the tail. Leppo led Rahmer, M. Smith, Shepard and Dewease. The top five remained the same with good racing for fourth between Shepard and Dewease on lap seven when Van Dusen went up in smoke. The next 19 laps went non-stop. Rahmer applied heavy pressure to the leader, while Dewease used the low side to move into third. On lap 16, Rahmer took the point, with Dewease following him into second on lap 23. Shepard's top five run came to an end on lap 26, when he suffered a flat right rear and restarted at the tail. The final restart saw Rahmer leading Dewease, Leppo, M. Smith, Cole and Darrah. Darrah was a rocket late, and shot into fourth by the checkers nine laps later. Hodnett followed him to complete a nice run. S. Smith was the hard-charger moving up eight spots, with Howard gaining seven. The win on Rahmer's wife Deb's birthday was worth $5,000, or Fred's age x100.
