Its Baylands I believe and thank you for the great clip? I couldn't make out the name of the winning driver. I heard Shuman's name and think he may have got second. Great clip.

That's the 1/2 mile at San Jose. You can see the 1/4 track inside. Wolfgang was on a rail.
Laudarevsonhunt...I forgot the supers did run a couple of shows on the big track. Who won those races. Also, I was just flipping through and old speed sport news that had a story on the race and the investigation in to the Revson crash. Sad, sad, crash.
In both 1986 & 1987 San Jose ran Outlaw shows on the half mile. In 87 the 2 weeks prior to the Outlaw show the the Mods & BCRA midgets ran shows. Anyone have results or video of it? I remember Kinser starting in the second row & lapping pole sitter Sills on the last lap.
They actually ran the half mile in San Jose for both the spring and fall WoO shows in '87. Haud won the NARC show in 1986 that re-opened the track and there were some wicked wrecks that night. That night ran against the Baylands season finale and amazingly they still had around 50 cars. The late models on the half were incredible. All in all it was a wicked fast track. I don't remember who won the other super modified show on the half but I do remember Rick Downey passing Mike Sargent coming off turn four on the last lap to win one of them. I know Grove Hill has some footage of the WoO shows on the half and had Ernie Rose's flip through the sound fence in three and four on the highlight tape from that year which was his last time in a car.

San Jose 1/2 mile and Wolfgang in Weikert's car. He was so fast. Him and Steve. Karl put the new down-tube car together in a motel parking lot and Steve won the first night out in it I believe.
Also, a car hit an orange cone and it flipped up in the air and lodged in Doug's left front suspension. He continued to run and it eventually fell out. I asked Doug about it and he didn't remember it.

Steve Kinser debuted the new 1987 Gambler chassis designed by C.K. Spurlock and Charlie Fisher. It features torque-arm suspension and two new frame tubes that extend from the roll cage to the front end of the chassis. The new bars help stiffen the frame and eliminate flex. The new chassis also allows the engine to be positioned forward, backward, up and down to aid in handling characteristics.

I'll put it here if ya want, just the thread is like getting hella long but if someone wants it....
What really sucked towards that season is 3 days before the '87 fall San Jose WoO show, Greg Rule was found floating dead in the marina near Oakland due to drowning.

they ran the 1/2 mile in 86. wasn't that the year of the debut of the gambler downtube car with kinser winning at san jose?
Hey................ you stole that from my post on the other SJ thread................ tha's OK though because you & I are Sargent fans & we have to stick together! lol.

I remeber that cone deal................ it was the restart cone & if I remeber correctly Wolfgang was in Ray & Jay Williams Payless Hardare Rockery car & it was #8, not the usual #11.
I seem to rember the racing on the half mile in 86 was quite dull & it seemed odd as there was a big bump where they crossed the old turn 4 on the 1/4 mile. I also remeber Rich Bubak spinning down the front chute a loooooong way & somehow not flipping.......... the racing was better in 87 but I preferred the 1/4 mile better.

Wolfgang was in the Weikerts Livestock #29 car on the San Jose half mile.
Chuck Miller was in the Payless Hradware and Rockery 11x car at that race.
Wolfgang didn't race the #8 Ray and Jay Williams car for a few years after this race at the San Jose half mile.
So the cone deal must have happened when they went back to the 1/4 mile because I could have sworn he was in the 8 car when that deal happened.................. anybody else rember?????????
