If you have a chance, read the article in today's (Tuesday) Los Angeles Times about how the inflated gas rates are affecting rodeo cowboys. It is in the California section of the paper and should be on their web site as well. The plight of the rodeo cowboy sounds much the same as the short track auto racer.

I havent missed the Madonna Inn roping in years! It takes place at the same time as the Santa Maria Rodeo mentioned in the article. It would have cost me $800 in fuel alone to make the trip from Arizona this year. I didnt make it this year!
