Don't know the details. Just read at the Hoserville site TK was disqualified from his second place finish due to an "incident" after the checkered flew. Andy Forsberg got the win. Anxious to find out all the details of the even that happened on the last lap coming out of four between these two drivers.

Sleep tight, folks!Wink

(couldn't sleep so catching up on some online bill paying...YUK)!!!!

Forsberg Wins Wild Finish at Chico

by: Troy Hennig

(Chico, CA 6-13-08)...It was a Friday night showdown at Silver Dollar Speedway during the 25-lap sprint car main event. It came down to two drivers going for the same piece of real estate. Coming out of turn four there was Andy Forsberg, the leader, and Tim Kaeding, charging around the top of the race track in second. Neither wanted to lose. As the two came out of turn four, Kaeding had caught Forsberg and the wheels were banging and sparks were a flying.

Forsberg crossed the line first while Kaeding finished second. Kaeding ended up smacking the front grandstand wall and in the process his top wing was tore off. As Kaeding crossed the line he spun backwards into the infield. The crowd loved the hard racing and the desire that each of these former champions displayed on Chico's famous racing surface. After the checkered Kaeding had kept his car running and began to drive backwards on the front straight. He was looking for Forsberg. In turn four they found each other and contact ensued. Both cars were wrecked and Kaeding climbed from his car to confront Forsberg. By the time any more damage could be done people had separated the two and cooler heads prevailed. It put a damper on what was an amazing finish.

Results were not released immediately once the main was finished so the officials could meet and discuss the altercation. It was handed down that Kaeding was disqualified for his actions after the main event. Lost in the commotion was the rest of the finishing order. As of press time only the top five were available. Grass Valley's Mark Hall was scored in the second spot. Mason Moore finished third. Robbie Whitchurch ran fourth and Zack Mason had a career best fifth place finish.

All of this action took place under a smokey evening due to the wild fire up near the town of Paradise. Chico Volkswagen came on board to sponsor the night of racing. Mark Abouzeid and his wife Amy did a wonderful job with the nights festivities and give-aways. Abouzeid ran his dirt modified tonight and dropped out of the main event while running second. Up to that point he had won every main event he entered this season. Tonight it looked like a flat tire ended his night early.

Oregon driver Scott Lenz got the win in the 15-dirt modified main event. Lenz led every lap and was the fastest car on the track. Mike Sohnrey finished second and Richard Papenhausen was third. Lenz earned extra money for the win on Chico Volkswagen night. Abouzeid did win the eight lap heat race for the evening so the fans could give the rocket man some applause.

The great story of the night went to Travis Moore. Last Friday night, Moore's non wing sprint car exploded in a big fire ball going into turn three. The fire was put out quickly and Moore climbed from the car uninjured. He was back this week and what a night it was. Tonight Moore had tied on a marshmallow to his left side down tube as a reminder of the fire from the previous week.

Moore started on the front row and led all 20-laps to get the win. In another twist of fate, Moore should have started in the seventh row. However, track officials were frustrated by the slow manner in which the main event cars were stagging in the pit area. Moore was the first car ready to get out on the track. Officials made the call to line up the main event cars in the order they made it to the push off lane. Moore was on time and ready to race. For his effort he started from the pole. For most of the race B.J. Martin was all over Moore. Martin seemed a bit faster but was not able to make the pass. On lap 17 Martin's night ended when he came to a stop in turn four. A little fire erupted but safety crews were there quickly to put out the flames. Kyle Hirst was now running second. On the final restart Hirst was not able to get by and Moore went on to get the win.

Moore had never won a non-wing sprint car race at Chico. He had won a championship in the pure stocks and done well in dirt modified's at the speedway but this win should still be special for him. David Larabee drove a consistent race to finish in the third spot. It was a great finish for Larabee. Cody Myers finished in the fourth spot while Taylor Simas rounded out the top five.

The Dwarf cars put on another entertaining race. Twenty-three cars entered the race tonight and between their heat races and main event they provided some of the best racing. The 20-lap main event victory went to Patrick Weger. During a late race battle for the lead Weger was passed by Gilbert Toste. Both drivers were in fierce traffic and both drivers ran each other hard. On the ensuing lap Weger passed Toste back and went on to win the race. Toste then had to deal with another Weger, as this time Daniel Weger closed in and battled for second. Toste beat Daniel in a photo finish for second. Doug Martin finished in the fourth spot while Mike Grenert started 13th and finished fifth.

Forsberg started the night off by turning the quickest lap at 11.848.

Billy Wallace and Justin Funkhouser were both winners in heat race action. Funkhouser then was scratched from the main event with problems. Tough break to what could have been a great night.

Patrick Weger won the first heat race during the dwarf car division, giving him a clean sweep for the night. Gilbert Toste won the second heat and Daniel Weger won the third heat. It's weird to think that is how the top three of the main event finished.

Danny Ochs won heat race one. Robbie Whitchurch led all eight laps to win heat two. Mason Moore passed Zack West on the final lap to win the third heat race for the 410 sprints.

Full results are available at www.johnpadjenmotorsports.com. The sprint car results should be posted later tonight or early tomorrow morning.

Not going to happen. The only thing stupid would be to ban him! It's a racing deal. If you don't like it go watch softball or something to the liking of that.

I vote to ban you. Answer me this, what top driver in the country hasnt done something stupid when they were pissed off? If you can think of one your not really honest with yourself. Sprint car racing has always been for tough seasoned racers who werent afraid of a good old fashioned slugfest if necessary. When tracks take away the ability to duke it out, you see more "on track" incidents. I say throw 'em in the infield and let 'em box it out. GO TK.

Racin deal, like at the Bradway when Kyle Hirst came down on TK, or the Pacific Fall Nationals when Shane Stewart came down on TK.

Didn't TK have an incident a few weeks ago and was booed loudly by the crowd?

I believe it was at Chico.

Shaking my head as I'm reading this thread. Sorry to hear that Tim drove his car backwards on the track to get back at Forsberg. Sounds like something Sammy Swindell would do.

Tim if you read this please don't make a name for yourself by doing shit like that!!!!1111

Interestingly, Andy Forsberg is scheduled to be on the Full Throttle Racing Show next Tuesday night. TK is welcome as well. We'll have a full rundown of the officials' decisions on the matter, too.

Driving the reverse direction, intentionally running into a competitor, TK will be lucky if the only action is banning, he committed a felony; assault with a deadly weapon.

No matter the situation, there is never an incident that calls for the intentional destruction of your competitor's vehicle (excluding a demolition derby). Tempers may fly in the heat of competition and no participant goes on the track thinking about intentionally damaging their competitor's equipment. On the other hand, any collision between cars, that is not a direct result of the racing competition, is an egregious violation of the spirit of the sport. To me this type of act is similar to assault. I have always thought Carl Edward caught off way too easy when he ran into Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s driver side door after that race in Michigan. If I were over the Wiseman household playing beanbags and the game did not work out in my favor, is it okay if I go outside get my car and smash through the front of the house? Do I need to answer that? I know there will be those who will say, "Boys will be boys" (no talk about Danica here). Do not get me wrong, I am a big Tim fan but this is wrong and he needs to be reprimanded harshly for this.

I was not a Chico last night (I wish I had been!). Maybe Andy made a mistake and did something he should not have done but that does not excuse the post race behavior. Two wrongs do not make a right! People make mistakes and they can learn from them. I do not think Tim needs to be banished but maybe he should spend the next week over at the Forsberg shop rebuilding a race car.

Just my two cents.

Kerry

I guess when Forseberg looked at directly at TK when Tim passed him on the front chute and them slid up into him (Forseber's right front making contact with TK's left rear) and sending Tim into the wall would be should be considered an intentional assault too. Come on let's not get off base with this one. Pretty much every driver out there would be charged at one time or another if we took that approach..............

Sounds like a Cole Trickle move! TK has to stop watching Days of Thunder before he races!

At first when I heard Kaeding was driving backwards, I was wondering how a sprint car could drive in reverse...wink Took me awhile. LOL

If anyone can get a Sprint Car to drive backwards it would be TK. I've seen him make the 900hp beast pirouette on the back nerf bar with the front wheels pointed straight skyward, while in a pack of cars, still keeping the engine lit and damn near holding his running position. He ain't always the safest but love him or hate him (matters not to me), he is still worth the price of admission. Smile

I have never posted on this site before, but after reading some of the ignorant posts, probably from people who were not at the race nor do they know Andy, What Tim did was wrong! If anyone knows Tim he passes on the high side to take most of his wins, this time it did not work out for him, Andy knew he was behind him and made turn 4 on the high side as wide as possible, Tim tried to squeeze through a spot that was not there and hit the wall, the damage was minimal on his car and the poor baby finished 2nd, WAH! WAH! Andy had a win taken away at Santa Maria from Tim with the same circumstances, was he supposed to just open the top and let Tim take the win again, no race car driver would do that. It was a racing deal and a small one at that the two drivers finished in 1ST and 2nd, it was a good race for the fans until Tim decided to ram Andy after the race in the driver side possibly hurting Andy pretty badly, As his wife SHIT like that is uncalled for. If something would have happened to Andy we could lose everything, Andy is the bread winner in the family, and NO sprint car racing does not make our house payment or pay the bills since he drives for free. He works long hours at his finish shop and then spends long nights working on the race cars, its always nice as a family to have the race car come home in one piece so you can spend time with your husband during the week, but Tim would not no that since he probably just gets paid his 40% and goes home to enjoy his family. What Tim did was stupid and a real hot head move, something you should not see from a veteran of the sport, let alone someone who finished the race in 2nd. I am pissed and yes something better be done by John Pajen Motorsports. And for all you ignorant fans who thought that was real awesome to see, go get your own sprint car and let me run into it for a piddly $2000 Win, when now you are going to have to buy a new rear end, wheel, tire, chassis, and more. Makes a whole lot of since does'nt it!

You go Candace girl!!!

I hope Andy is okay.  Obviously, I wasn't there but if things are as described it was a very unfortunate reaction by Tim.

Tell Andy I said hello.  I miss you guys a lot.  Sold the little m/h so no place to stay at the track.

Take care,

Leon

Gotta agree. What a STUPID THING TO DO! What if either driver was hurt. I wasn't there don't know how fast either was going but either way TK should be banned/penalized/something. If I was Mr. Forsberg, I would have flattened his @$$ for that and if I was an official I'd have let it happen.
