Just read that Lucas Wolfe will be returning home to Mechanicsburg, PA after cracking a Vertabre in his upper back. This apparently happened when he flipped lining up for his heat race. They brought out a back-up car and despite the injury he drove it from the rear of the B to 2nd place before ending the night in the feature due to back pain. Best wishes go out to Lucas for a speedy recovery!

how exactly did he flip while lining up? did he hit a rut or something while warming up or did something just break real bad?

Get well soon buddy! Get back out when you are ready.
From what I was told, he was lining for the Heat, how the flagman tells ya to pick it up(everyone). He got in the marbles and smacked the wall. Everyone behind him told the team it wasn't bad. Unfortunate.

I agree it's very unfortunate but at the same time your correct, no reason to rush back into the car. The fact that he could pass 10 cars in the B-main at an outlaw show with a broken vertabre shows a both unbelievable desire and toughness. Give it proper time to heal and this will merely be a hiccup at the start of what already has been and will continue to be a great career.

Lucas Wolfe World of Outlaws Injury Update
Concord, NC— June 11, 2008—Lucas Wolfe, the leading contender with for the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award with the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, will be out indefinitely after sustaining a fractured T-4 Vertebrae in his back at Tri-City Speedway in Illinois on June 8.
Wolfe returned home on Tuesday to Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania where he is awaiting another doctor's visit to receive further prognosis and an estimated time of recovery.
"I'm hoping this is brief and I can get back out there soon," he optimistically said.
Wolfe is currently 14th in Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship points on the strength of four Top-10 finishes. He finished a season-best fifth at Williams Grove Speedway on May 15. The Allebach Racing team for whom he drives has also returned to Pennsylvania and will not return to action until Wolfe is healed and ready to race again.
"It's difficult because this is the time of the year that we were beginning to race more and we were getting in a good rhythm," he noted. "We'll be back though."
Headquartered in Roanoke, Va., Advance Auto Parts is the second-largest retailer of automotive aftermarket parts, accessories, batteries, and maintenance items in the United States, based on store count and sales. As of October 6, 2007, the company operated 3,228 stores in 40 states, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. The company serves both the do-it-yourself and professional installer markets.
