I go to the King's Royal every year, but this year I was thinking about camping instead of staying in a motel. We would be tent camping, so from what I've read We'd have to be in the Eldora Village area. Was just wondering if anybody had any experience with camping there and had any advice. Pro's vs con's, do people actually camp in tents there, the best area to be in, is it just a bad idea, etc. This is all considering that I can still buy a space over there. Any advice would be a help!

Camping is awesome until morning comes and the sun reminds you of how much beer you drank and what time you got to actually crawled into bed (normally 4-5 oclock for me). I "kind of" camp, I put up a tent to keep stuff in but throw a mattress in my mini van (did I say "my" mini van?) I mean my wifes mini van and crash out in there, It's a lot better than a tent if it decides to rain.

It all depends if your coming up tuesday for the race or just the weekend. I live 15 minutes away and camp every year. It is a great time in the campground. I prefer a camper just so we have a few hours of ac a day, but there are plenty of tents out there. We always go out monday and camp in the free section behind turn three in the grass. You can have camp fires out there, but the spots get limited if you don't come out until thursday. It can get muddy out there if it is a wet week, but its been a few years since it has rained during the royal. (knock on wood) I have never camped in the eldora village campground since you have to pay, the turn three grounds are just as close to the track. I would suggest coming tuesday and camping all week so you can hit all the races.

bring the biggest canopy you have for cover during the blistering sun hours or you will suffer!
Lincoln 1845 ft/.35 mile T1=118MPH
Eldora 2287 ft/.43mile T3=135MPH
Port 2716 ft/.51 mile T3=TBD
Grove 2792 ft/.53 mile T3=135MPH
Selinsgrove 2847 ft/.54 mile T1=136MPH

we camp in the village every yr and it kicks ass. the partys are really pretty good!!!!! 35 bucks a spot 20' by 40' I think.

You can camp for free in lot #4. I went last year for the first time in a long time and had a great time! Bring plenty of beer, firewood and food and you will have a great time!

What an awesome week with Eldora Tues, Limaland Wed, USAC Lawerenceburg Thurs and back to Eldora on Sat-Sun. If you wanted to be agressive, you can finish up the week with Kokomo USAC sprint week finale on Sunday.
