Is there updates from tonight somewhere?
The hopeless desire to outrun Bud Grimm's Fords is
why central PA became the toughest place to race on
the planet. Even the KING couldn't run with Casey
Luna's Fords on a tacky track. It's a crying shame
that current car owners failed to notice.

Rained out.
The track announcer said that USAC will run the feature next year (2009) when USAC returns to Grandview Speedway. They'll figure out some way to do something for the fans and for the drivers/teams to honor the tickets/feature lineup. They'll announce something in seven to ten days.
I got there late. Pauch looked great without the wing in the Zemco car and finished second in his heat. Rahmer didn't come out to qualify through the heat for some reason, and Lucas Wolfe also qualified through his heat. That was partially helped by a crash involving "The Throttle", Clayton, Hines and a couple other guys.
Apparently two guys got upside down in qualifying and one of them tore down some fencing but we missed that.
Feature lineup was set and ARDC B-Main was on track with USAC sprints staged and ready when the rain came.

From the website, as posted by Deb Rahmer...
"Fred did not feel comfortable in the car and the team decided not to run the rest of the program"
Looks like Freddy missed the tin top!

Rahmer is fourth on Grandview's all time win list with 45 modified wins. No wings there. He's raced for 30 years and he knows whether he's competitive or not. He was a second off the pace in qualifying. At least he gave it a shot, which you can't say for a lot of others. That being said, even I agree you would have thought he would have at least stuck around and tried to race his way in. He must have felt real bad.

Tough to leave the training wheels behind after using them for so long. Guys like Tim Kaeding, Bud Kaeding, Haud, Jesse Hocket and the like... they have more nerve IMO to run whatever, winged or non. Takes some big stones to run full out with out a crash cushion above your melon.
I am sorta disapointed in him not giving it a go.

The Outlaws regularly skip WINGED shows. If you would like to see what people say about that, just do a search.

Not sure too many of them skipped out after time trials though.
I actually admire Rahmer for saying 'hey, I am not cut out for this, I don't want to wreck the car and risk injury to myself or my fellow competitors'.
But just wanted to point out that it's been kind of quiet on the board about this and had this been say the Dude or TMac, many more would have come to speak their minds.
