I really enjoyed watching the live broadcast tonight! It was very well done and 3 hours long including all aspects of sprint car racing. I thought the track was well prepared and good racing throughoutt the field. I also liked the personal interviews with some of the drivers. I think people who watched sprint cars for the first time will be impressed I am looking forward to watching the next WoO race on TV!

Why doesn't the Speed Channel broadcast a couple of the races from Indiana Sprint Week, or better yet, one of the races leading up to the Indianapolis 500 this week? Why do they assume that WoO is the only type of sprint car racing people want to see? I am sorry, the WoO is not very entertaining. Just my opinion.

The race was setting up to be a heckuva finish before that last caution came out. I thought it was a pretty good broadcast and enjoyed them showing qualifying.

Sounds like Tripcrwn is upset because the WoO race preempted Speed Channel's usual three back-to-back episodes of Unique Whips. I know a few hours without seeing those New York cheese-balls "customizing" some NBA players Escalade, is a real bummer. Personally, I was pissed because I had to miss a few extra hours of DW pimping for Toyota

I agree with Gary. The feature was just about to get good as the leaders were in traffic and Deweese was being reeled in. Lance most likely had too much for 'em but he was going to get some challenges in traffic. Lowes is an amazing facility but like most big fast tracks there is not much dicing taking place. That's precisely why I'm such a big fan of the 1/4 -1/3 mile bull rings!
I think Speed did a pretty decent job of the coverage. I love Bobby Gerould in the booth but they need some work with the pit reporting. Jack Slash wasn't a pretty face but he added a heck of a lot more color to the broadcast. Watching Sprint Car racing in HD is something I'd like to get used to! I'd be watching it over NASACR on every occasion.

Personally, I could do without the extended tin-top coverage and the stupid reality shows that Speed Presents on a daily basis. At-least they showed SOME sprint car coverage, it's just sad that had to be the WoO. I like the Formula 1, but it gets frustrating because I have to get up so early to watch it. Oh well, its just a matter of time before America wakes up and realizes that open-wheel racing is way better than anything NASCAR can put on the track.
I thing Unique Whips is lame too, that has nothing to do with racing.

I thought the broadcast was great. Bobby G smooth during the entire 3 hr plus telecast. The pit reports were horrible. Sean Buckley got the shaft from speed so I am a little bias. I couldn't understand the Hunt girl and the bald dude I had to turn down the volume anytime he spoke. I think we need to get GT Promotions ON these telecasts! Gary has more knowledge in his left pinky than both of them pit reporters or bring back Buck...
My dream Hoserville telecast would be Stu, Rich and Jim Dale in the booth. That would be entertaining!
Amanda and Gary in the pit area;
Car Wash giving the information for the announcers..
Sprintcar Kelly will be a technical advisor...
And Chuck, of course, in the pace truck...
That is something we all could tune into and watch whether or not it's follow the leader...

The bald dude didn't bug me anywhere near as much as the Hunt chick did. Her voice bugged the piss out of me. Bobby G. and Brad Doty - it don't get any better than that. I think the broadcast over-all was great.
As for your dream Hoserville booth team Troy you have to keep in mind that if you are going to have Al on the team you will need to add at least a half hour to the program just to give him time to complete his sentences. You'll also need to make sure he has plenty of time to get there or have him ride up with someone else who can break the 45 MPH barrier :-)....Al did a real-time chat for the Key last year and it was a lot of fun. Of course I spent most of my time doing my best to rattle him :-)...

I thought the A main was very exciting. The WOO events on the bigger tracks tend to be the same .... no passing in the heats or dash and then a really exciting A feature. The Williams Grove race last week was the same thing .... no passing then an awesome A feature. Lowe's is not the most exciting track but I thought the racing was solid; Meyers, Dollansky and Lasoski all came from mid pack to the front early in the race. Jason Johnson was also flying before S. Kinser took him out.
They need Jackslash back. The two pit reporters were terrible.
Coming up:
Oct 17th - Ocean Speedway: WOO
Oct 18th - Tulare Thunderbowl: WOO
Oct 30-31st - Perris Speedway: USAC Bud Oval Nationals

Stu would be great on the mic, time barring, but Chris he could also add all of his Laguan Seca knowledge during down times...Not that it has anything to do with Sprint Cars, but, knowledge is still POWER.

What happened to the Jackslash dude? The 2 pit reporters suck
|
Pit reporter Shane Andrews is the track announcer at Brewerton & Fulton Speedways in central New York.
|
Sean was replaced due to corporate politics. Simple as that. I didn't see the show myself tonight (nor do I care to watch any of them this year), but I have heard all night how they have taken a step backwards in terms of the pit reporting. As for the female, I hear she is a "protege" of Dave Despain's who he has "taken under his wing", and it was his influence that got her the job. Whatever...
They hired Sean last year to be an edgy, hip, modern day broadcaster and they hamstrung him with their own narrow-minded, conformist vision, not really really letting him be who he was hired to be; "Jackslash". I mean, the last thing this sport needs is another stiff, buttoned up, bland pit reporter covering these events, but that is what they forced him to be. They hired him for a reason and then backpeddled on their decision. Quite frankly, even though it sucks that he lost the position, it's best for all parties involved. Sean couldn't spread his wings with that gig, as he is not the "corporate shill" the Outlaws want or need, so they went out and got someone who can and will be. Honestly, it is for the best, and Sean is good with the decision.

I am glad somebody else noticed how bad they were. This must be the girls first "gig" and the dude I thought it was at wwe event.
|
those two pit reporters stink it up in so many ways,i hit mute everytime they came on because her voice was like nails on a chalk board and he sounded like william shatner trained him to speak. buckley you are still the man for the job.

Troy, as you are a Hoser... that stick job will always be rightfully yours.
I remember a fun team to listen to was Troy and Buckley as MC's of the bikini contest... good stuff.
Would smoking be allowed in the booth. (just checking for you Stu, you might have the seat next to the door.)
Wow Troy, GT on the track with SPEED for any Sprint broadcast would be f-ing right on!

the woo is the identifyable name in professional sprint car racing. charlotte will not be the only race track they are telecast from. the next race shown will i believe be last weeks woo race from the grove, so you will have a mix of cars shown from all over. you can piss and moan about the coverage the woo gets, but just remember, not too long ago you were pissing and moaning that there was NO sprint car tv races. make up your mind.

Technical advisor is the most important part of the tv broadcast...someone who knows the sport as well or even better than the people on tv...
The stories that Stu, Jim and Rich could tell would be just priceless...I also think they would not be as "political" as Gary and I have to be on the mic...They would tell it like it is....
