Just want to say thanks to you. You had a rough friday night, up all night working, putting a car togeather. Back to it on saturday and even threw the busy weekend and 40 lap race on sat. After the races I took my 9 year old in the pits to get some pictures and a lot of guys signed and wouldnt even agknowledge he was their. On our way out he said look dad hes got pictures. We walked over to you and you said hey how you doing buddy, rubbed his head (as he says you gave him a nuggie) signed a picture and said give me 5 first... He then did and as we walked away he had the biggest smile on his face and told me he thought you wanted 5 bucks for it.... He now has a favorite driver. Thanks for taking the time and making my sons night.....Good luck to you and thanks......

JA is one of the nicest guy's you will ever meet. He ALWAYS has time for everybody, but he especially loves the kid's! Glad your little guy got to meet him, he has picked a good hero to look up to.

That's what this sport is all about right there!!

It was waking the pits of West Capitol with my dad and getting those autographs that brought me back to Sprint Cars when I got older.

JA, and other drivers, just so you know, IT DOES MATTER!!

Great post Spinner11, made me smile reading it

Steve

JA is one of the classiest guys you could ever meet and there is a few more just like him, Jon takes time out no matter the situation he's a guy that knows what it takes and truly loves his sport, I'm glad to be good friend of Jon's and I always wish him the best because he really does deserve it. Great post Spinner11

I want to thank Spinner for posting this as well. Normally all you hear about is when a driver brushes somebody off or is rude to them so it's refreshing to see/hear something positive. Jonathan and Stephen are two of the best guys you'll ever meet.

Thanks for all your comments on my post. Makes it all worth posting something when you get good fead back on it. I hope someone can just relay this to Jon. Ive been watching him and his brother for years now and they both seam like great guys. Never met them but after that ride home from chico to folsom and my boy staying up with me the entire way home, excited to tell his mom a sprintcar guy gave him a nuggie. I cant wait for the next race to personally thank him myself.

He's one of my favorites too. I was a little slow to see what a good driver Jon is, but the first thing I noticed was how good he was with the young fans. Very cool to see him and Stephen get the two quickest times at the Bradway. Also glad they had good runs in the A Main and battled side by side for several laps.

Their Dad, Ken, raised two of the finest men and there is one more younger Allard and he is every bit as wonderful as his brother's.

Jon Allard is a sweet guy and so is Stephen! Jon is always soo nice to talk to and really appreciates his fans! I was heartbroken last year when he has a flat tire on the last 2 laps of the Gold Cup. I have never seen him soo sad and thought a hug would cheer him up Smile I also agree that it is soo important that the drivers be nice to their fans regardless of the kind of night they had. I understand that drivers have a bad night, but it's better to go and hide, rather than be in a bad mood to the fans. I know as a teacher I have hard days, but I try to forget about all that and show a happy face to the students. I know I have never driver a sprint car and never will ( I am a big whimp), but I am just trying to make a comparison Smile I must say overall sprint car drivers are awesome people that drive sprint cars because they love it and not for the money( like Nascar ,lol!), and I truly respect them for that!

P.S- It's also not a good idea for racers to smoke in front of the fans because it is a bad example for our kids. Just my two cents wink

Can't be any worse then parents who drink or smoke in front of there kids at the races and or use vulgar language about drivers when they do something wrong on the track. Trust me i see this quite abit at different tracks all across this state and country. And yes i've been to all the tracks in Calif. except for a couple and i've seen the same thing at each one. Kind of sounds like a double standard IMO. If i saw a driver smoking i would just go to another trailer until he was done then bring my kid by after. That would solve the problem for me anyway's. Oh by the way Jon Allard is a class act too. Very nice guy, met him some year's back at Knoxville Nationals and he was a really nice individual.

Hope nobody takes this the wrong way. Jonathon Allard is a proven champion behind the wheel, however I am not a fan of his driving. But that is not why I wanted to comment, I wanted to comment because although I have never actually intoduced myself to Jonathon Allard, he seems to be a heck of a nice guy. When ever I would walk by him, and this was on more then one occasion, he said hello. It might not seem like much, but for someone to say hi to someone he has never meet, seemed pretty cool. It is refreshing to hear others have the same perseption of him. Unfortunatly Jonathon, I dont go to the races to cheer for the good guys.

Hell.......J.A. even goes out of his way to say hi to a washed up has-been like myself :-). I had the privelege of seeing these guys race the Outlaw karts at Red Bluff and have accumulated many memories involving each over the past 15 years. Both are real racers each in their own unique way but class all the way and a true asset to Northern California racing.

My husband and I were reading these posts, and thinking about last weekend at Chico, and were talking about how JA reminds us of Bradway. The driving styles are similar and JR was always great with the kids and fans too. Both of us were great fans of JR and we still miss him. JA always has a hug or a handshake for people coming down to the pits. We have a lot of great drivers in CA, the list goes on and on. We're very fortunate but I assume all fans believe that about their drivers.

I agree with everyone else. Jonathan and Stephen are both great guys on and off the track. I have never seen either turn anyone away, even the has been's Smile But then we have many that are great that way.

As for the smoking part. I have seen Jon go out of his way to "hide" the smoking not just when kids are around but when anyone is around. Many others don't. Or more importantly don't care.

I have to agree with everything said above. One thing I didn't see mentioned is JA's interest in helping the younger drivers. I know first hand, because he has more than once offered advice and help to my son whenever he's asked. Morrie & Katie, JA, Ashley & Chris (sorry if I left anyone out) are as nice as you can get and a pleasure to pit next to and race with .

Thanks for everything that you bring to the sport of sprint car racing.

Linda

Oh please, don't smoke in the pits after a grueling race? Come on now. Its a good thing you weren't around in the 50s or 60s when men smoked, drank, and cussed and fought after the races. This is sprint car racing. Men are men. I applaud the fact that JA hides his habit, but give me a break. These guys are brave men and very mortal and face serious injury or death each time they strap into their sprint cars. Give them a break. Save the non-smoking lecture to someone who smokes without any consideration for others. Sprinter 11 paid one of the best compliments to the man and his comments were from the heart because of the attention that was paid to his son. Leave the non-smoking plea outside the forums, where it belongs. After all this isn't a PTA meeting, its sprint car racing. Leave Allard alone. My two cents.

Jonathan wanted to me thank everyone for their comments because he really does appreciate it. He feels blessed to be able to do what he loves and understands that we need the fans and other teams to keep this sport growing and prospering.

So on behalf of Jonathan Allard Motorsports we want to thank everyone!

This weekend Jonathan is heading up to Washington to compete in the inagural ASCS Northwest Region event at the Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma. He's running the Doyle's Harley Davidson No. 1 so hopefully it goes well. Just wish I could be there! Then next weekend it's back down here to get back behind the wheel of the Morrie & Katie Williams No. 0 to resume chase for the GSC championship.

In regards to the the not smoking infront of the kids wasn't aimed at any particular driver, just in general and can also be said for not cursing or drinking too much also Smile I am glad Jonathan is going for the GSC championship because he has become one of my favorite drivers!
