Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders Hit Jacksonville Looking for First Repeat Winner!

(Bill W) May 12, 2008 – When the Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders take to the Morgan County Speedway in Jacksonville, Illinois this Friday night, May 16, it will be interesting to see who graces victory lane. In seven career series feature events at the banked ¼ mile oval, there have been seven different winners! Will they make it eight, or will we have our first repeat winner at MCS?

The Sprint Invaders feature win list at the popular facility is composed of an impressive bunch. A veteran presence composes the winners' list. Joey and Tim Montgomery, Terry McCarl, Jesse Giannetto, Jerrod Hull, Robbie Standridge and Kaley Gharst have all enjoyed a victory with the Sprint Invaders at MCS. Who will step up on Friday night? If the series opener at 34 Raceway was any indication, it's going to be a wild season!

Matt Rogerson, who won the opener at the 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa and John Schulz, who battled the leader the distance and finished second, share the series' points lead at 221 heading into Jacksonville. They are followed closely by Korey Weyant, who will have a short tow from his home in Springfield and 2004 Invaders champ, Bobby Mincer. Others expected to compete include 2007 Sprint Invaders Rookie of the Year, Jordan Goldesberry, Jacksonville master, Jerrod Hull, Matt Sutton, "Flyin'" Ryan Jamison and many more!

Pit gates are slated to open at 4:00 p.m., with grandstands opening at 5:00 p.m. Hot laps are slated for 6:00 p.m. Adult grandstand tickets are $15, with Seniors and students admitted for $10. Kids 12 and under are free. For more information, visit www.MorganCountySpeedway.com, or call 217 371-5228!

You could win gas money!

Four lucky fans will have their fuel costs reduced thanks to Jerry and Kim Glasgow. They have donated four $25 fuel cards to be given away on race night. Rich in sprint car tradition, Morgan County Speedway is one of those fast paced tracks that will have you on the edge of your seat. Hope to see you there for a night full of exciting, hold your breath "Green to Checkered" racing!

This race night will also be the Snap-On Tools night. Last year they brought the big Snap-On Tool chest and had alot of giveaways. Along with Sprints, The SS, MODS, and PONYS will be running. This will be the Shawn Marquard Memorial. Shawn and his entire family were racers at home in Jacksonville. In memory of Shawn the Marquard family will be giving away bicycles as well as numerous other prizes for kids. Come out for this exciting night full of great racing.

How many cars do you think will show up at the car show, when Lee County Speedway is having a 360 WOW show on May 23rd? Not trying to start anything, I love the Invaders, I just can't see there being many cars there if any!

The better question will be how many cars are going to show up at Lee county...There will be plenty of Invaders cars for the car show on Friday...

I hope that being a week apart neither car count will hurt. For our 16th race we have an additional 2 gas cards being donated by the Andy Ezard for Mayor Campaign.

It's a personal choice. Do you want to go race your sprint car or go show it? Looking at the Invader schedule, there is only 2 races in May and none in June. I don't honestly think you can blame the Invader racers that choose to go to Lee County and race on May 23rd. It is a nice facility that the racers have enjoyed for the last several years and it is close by for the majority. Maybe next year they can work out their differences if everybody involved stays open. That would be best for all. Bill G.

Just spoke to Billy West and everything looks good for Friday night at Jacksonville. Sounds like they have additional items to be given away, like a couple more gas cards, five more bicycles, Snap-On Tools and accessories.

This is just a fact ... not trying to start something, but over time when the WOW and S.I. run together the S.I. regulars that run every show (not the Mitrisin's or Gharst'etc.) have a hard time making the show and never run top10. I would not miss the Donnellson WOW race but I am much closer to Donnellson anyway.

Just a fact, huh? Let's take the LOS two day show out of that equation since it draws more cars than any WOW show or SIA show alone (even though SI guys make that show also) and see how your argument stands up there. WOW and SI do not run together regularly but there are several WOW regulars that run SI shows and I don't believe they are walking all over the SIA as you seem to imply. And I'm not taking anything away from WOW guys. I've personally talked to several Knoxville drivers in the past who have said if anyone thinks they are going to come to an SI race and win it with their eyes closed & hands tied behind their back, it isn't going to be easy as it's a very competitive series. There's my .02 - take or toss. Mandi

LOS nationals 2007 4 out of the top five on Sunday night were registered SIA. And WOW guys have come to SIA shows and done quit well Randy Martin and Brian Brown have both won with the SIA as WOW regulars. I don't believe either club has an advantage over the other. And further more implying that SIA can't keep up is just a cheap ploy to start a new fight. I for one would love to return to Lee County speedway as an Invader. And my hope is that in 2009 that can be accomplished. I also hold no ill will for any team that makes the decision to attend the WOW show. You bought and paid for your car and have every right to take it to any race you see fit. I wish non of this had ever happened but it did. Now the question is are you going to part of the solution or part of the problem. Chris McGraw

P.S. congrats to Donnie Steward for winning 305 feature at 34.

We'll let the results speak for themselves come Friday night. "Registered" does not make you a regular.

This sounds like someones worried about car count to me, I think it will be fine without trying to "call out" the SIA drivers. Between the WOW, some SIA drivers and probably a few Knoxville regulars I'm sure it'll be a great show.

I hadn't looked at it that way but you are probably right. Reverse pychalogy? Brillant why didn't I think of that?
