Brian Brown – A Win at the Lake!

(Bill W) April 30, 2008 – Brian Brown had a bit of a weight lifted off his shoulders last Saturday night, when he captured his first victory of the 2008 season. The win came against 27 sprint cars in local competition at the beautiful Lake Ozark Speedway near Eldon, Missouri at one of the few venues that didn't succumb to Mother Nature. This weekend, the Grain Valley, Missouri driver will attempt to tackle the World of Outlaws at US36 Raceway near Cameron, Missouri and at the Knoxville Raceway, and will try for his third career Bob Ramey Sr. Memorial win at Sedalia's State Fair Speedway on Sunday.

Brian's heat at LOS would resemble the 30-lap feature at the end of the night. The top four finishers in the heat race, would also top everyone else at the end of the night. Brian moved forward from outside row two to finish behind Bryan Grimes at the heat race checkers. "It was big to get to second in that heat race, because the top two make the dash there," says Brian. "You never know what you're going to get at a track having their first race of the year. Kevin Gundaker and the whole staff there did a great job of getting it ready and making it wide enough for us to move up."

A second place finish in the dash (after starting fourth), put Brian outside of row one for the main event. "The car was just working so well in the feature," he says. "We had a caution with about eight laps to go, and we ended up winning by about a straightaway, so the car was really good. It was great to get the first win for SuperClean since they've been on board and the first win for our team this year, of course!"

After backing up to fifth from the front row a week ago in Wheatland, the Tim and Gina Doogs SuperClean #21 team felt a bit of redemption on Saturday. "I felt we gave one away at Lucas Oil Speedway last week, and I felt we took advantage of some of the mistakes we made there this week to win it," says Brian.

A three-race weekend is planned for Friday through Sunday. It will begin with the World of Outlaws at US36 Speedway west of Cameron, Missouri. "US36 has never been one of my better tracks, but hopefully we can change that Friday night with the Outlaws," says Brian.

After heading north to Knoxville Raceway to take on the WoO again Saturday, Sunday will find Brian back in Sedalia for the Bob Ramer Sr. Memorial. "We've always been pretty good at Sedalia, and we've been able to win the Bob Ramey Sr. Memorial a couple times in the past," says Brian. "Hopefully, we can pick up another one there. The Memorial races are always extra special to win."

Brian is Adopted…

…by a radio station. Brian will be joining Lou, the Round Guy and Heather on KGGO "Classic Rock that Rocks" at 94.9 on the FM dial. He will be calling in on Monday mornings during the race season to keep them apprised of their adopted driver (him). Be sure to listen in!

Brian's Q&A

Milton from Sedalia, MO asks: What is your cousin Jon Corbin up to?

Brian answers: He's working for a company called Creason Pipeline Service. As far as racing, he's doing that some with his grandfather, Tom Corbin. As far as what extent, where or when, I think they're still working on that. I'm sure he'll be racing this year in some manner, I don't know to what extent and where. He has a lot of talent, so I'd like to see him get a chance to show people how good he is.

Brown's Bits

Brian continued his dominating performances at Lake Ozark Speedway. Despite limited appearances at the beautiful facility near Eldon, Missouri, he has had great success! In eleven career feature starts there he has six wins! He has also finished in the top ten on every occasion! In addition to his win last Saturday night, he had wins on July 10, 21 and September 11, 2004, and August 19 and September 3, 2006. The wins have been under the banner of Winged Outlaw Warriors, Sprint Invaders, and local sanctions.
