My two cents worth...

1. Kudos and congratulations to Cary Faas, Jack Gardner, and Mike & Dena Gibson...what an awesome night of "old school" racing! Thank you for bring back good 'ol fashion, fun racing!

2. Congratulations to Blake Miller for his $5000 win...in very impressive style...very aggressive, yet calculated and clean...that's exactly why I am a fan of his.

3. Tough break for the second straight week for Mike Spencer and the Chaffin / Bromme crew...the 'Lil Red Sucker was wicked fast again until it let go.

4. Man, I sure love open headers! I got my fix early...and didn't have to travel to Indiana to get it!

5. Much appreciation goes out to the entire Victorville Auto Raceway team for working the track as much as they did...laying down as much water as they had to...to get the racing surface as nice as it was, despite the high winds and weather conditions all day and night. It sure paid off!

6. I am very impressed with Eric Severson! That guy was simply amazing (again) in his 360...sitting in 3rd with only a handful of laps left until he had fuel pickup problems and faded late. I'm sure he still won the bonus for highest placing 360.

7. Seth Wilson definitely drove his heart out...and made lots of new fans last night...both on and off the track!

8. Tony Jones once again proved he is the "Cowboy"...too bad he lost a cylinder about half way threw the main...I believe it was the #7 rocker.

9. I paid $25 for a pit pass, which I haven't seen since the '80's, and was welcomed into the main grandstands for the main events...wow! BTW...I don't think there is a bad seat in that house.

10. Bummer what happened to Chris Tramel...he's lucky to have lost only his leg hair! Very expensive night for a low-buck team. He lost a front axle, LF shock, radius rods, and an air box, plumbing & wiring, and his fire suit in the fire...that all adds up!

11. How cool was it to have Brad Doty doing commentary! First class guy all the way.

12. Robert Mayson was amazing on the microphone all night, with all of his stories and facts to fill in the gaps in the action...very impressive job buddy!

13. I bought a fully-loaded cheesburger, chips, and a soda for under $10...can you say "throwback"!

14. I love the new surface and banking at V.A.R. Made for some really tight racing...didn't have to wait for the scary slide jobs...there was plenty of opportunity to set guys up and pass.

15. Davey Pombo was fast the first time in an iTi Viper bar car...nice run to third place!

16. I think Tyler Brown should run the 'ol Okie more often...he looks so comfortable (and fast) in that car.

17. Was anyone else impressed with how smooth all the heat races were run?

18. $12.00 Inagural Event T-Shirts...that was a nice break for everyone! And I love the vintage design and colors too.

19. I thought Heidi made a good run in her #3x Victory Chassis.

20. Rip better not stay out of the cockpit too long or his kid's gonna take over for good. If Cody continues to learn sprint car racing as fast as he has the last few races, Jack Jory is gonna have to run two cars!

21. I can think of only two things that could have helped last night's event: (1) They need to work the push-off chute a little better or allow the push trucks to enter the track if a car won't fire. Several cars had a hard time getting the rear wheels to turn in the dry dirt. Tramel's deal was most likely due to his fuel lines being over-pressurized trying to fire off unsuccessfully a couple of times. (2) The nerf bars certainly didn't seem to be an issue at the track, but I think more cars may have showed up if the rule was a bit more flexible.

22. I got home to Riverside by 11:00 pm...that was nice.

You know in all of my stupidity I forgot to look for an Event Shirt! Cary, save me a couple in Extra Fat and I will give you the cash when I see you next time!

Joe

PS. I agree with everyone of your statements except No. 18! And that was only because I was too stupid to look for a shirt so I have no idea what it actually looks like, lol! What an awesome time it was! I love this size track and I hope they have many more of these to come! The most stunning part of the event is how much exposure and support it got in what I was told less then a month from conception! I can see the next one being much larger especially if VRA isnt running a show on the same night! When something runs as smoothly as this the word gets out! A lot of people get hesitant about supporting something the first time out because they dont know how it is going to turn out but this proves that Cary, Jack and the rest of the folks behind this know what they are doing!

Your right in all you said except #21,the fuel systems check valve system only allows 60 lbs fuel pressure. They had a loose line, rotted fuel line or a cracked fitting, after all if the wheels don't turn the motor does'nt rotate and the fuel pump won't pump.Cary Faas was right about the nerfs. That was as clean and smooth a race as I've seen.Kodos to the drivers skills displayed sat.To those drivers who chose not to partcipate, reconsider and come next time,it was quite a special event.Thank You to Mr. Faas ,Mr. Gardner,Mr. Gibson and to all the others you helped pull this off!!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the highest placing 360" get more money than the winner at VRA ? Just asking ????

racerx, good question, I guess the only other things to consider is the cost per race like tires etc. and the point fund. It only stands to reason that since they made so much money and that since the Victorville race was such a big success that the next race will pay even more. Lets just hope they don't be like everyone else and go to mufflers, a tire rule and curfew rules. I also noticed nobody was banging nerf bars, guess they got the message, if you touch wheels your going for a ride out of the park in an ambulance.

don't get me wrong I loved the show at Victorville and I hope they do it again soon, but I do wonder why all you PAS haters havn't said a word about the car count (31 cars exactly the same as the PAS on 4/12).

And about the same amount of cars still running at the end of the main event.

Rob,

I hope no one hates either place. I think that at the next event you will probably see double the cars! There are a lot of people take the "Let's see how the first one goes" before they want to commit to the event in case it turns out to be a flop. This was anything but a flop so I would expect a lot of cars next time. Especially, if the VRA isnt running!

Joe,all I'm saying is people bitch and moan about USAC and the PAS and blame them for the falling car counts and ,then Faas and Gardner put up 5 grand to win (thanks guys) and still only 31 cars show up and 1/2 of them are 360s, why???where the hell were Priestly,Sheridan, R.J.,Moose racing,Cardey,Kruseman and the rest.oh yeah Kruseman couldn't afford a nerf bar.

ROB

BTW I'm not a fan of USAC but right now they are the only 410 show in town

Cory and the boys are getting ready to leave for a 31 race grinder of a schedule in the mid West. Heck, I would stay home right before a trip like that too.
