I have to say for either a first time event or one that has run smoothly for years that was AWESOME! I am so glad that I made the trip out from AZ to see it. I can honestly say that those that werent there missed a great event and I sincerely hope that more events are planned in the future.

Tony Jones, Cal Smith and Seth Wilson did a great job promoting the event at Costco and some of the people that stopped by to visit with them showed up at the event. The management at Costco were very appreciative and mentioned that they could come back anytime to promote future events.

I also have to say a big CONGRATULATIONS to Cody Williams! I believe that was only his 5 race in a sprint car and did he ever drive a great race! He was as smooth as a 25 year veteran out there! I must have spoke to 30 people after the races and I think at least 1/2 of them made a comment about his performance. All we want to know is when are the T-Shirts coming as we want to be able to buy the First Edition Shirts!

Brad Doty is always a class act and I cannot convey the respect I have for him as a person. He is just as genuine as a gets!

I personally want to thank everyone that made this event what it was. From the first time attendees to the everyone that promoted, raced, crewed and offered contingency prizes. This is what racing is about!

See You Next Time,

Joe

Wow, what a great event at Victorville last night. From the hot laps to the A-main, every part of last night's show was entertaining. I have a few observations from last night, and hopefully these will get the ball rolling for further discussion. Seth Wilson, wow, he gets a new paint job and proceeds to go out and kick butt. He earned a lot of respect from me last night, it is too bad that his car quit on him, for I was pulling for him. Eric Severson, man, this guy was relentless last night. I thought he finished better than he did, but it was still an impressive run in a 360. No one could have told Mr. Severson that he was out gunned. John Aden, I know he did not have the best night as far as racing is concerned, but was that him out there driving a tractor, and helping to prepare an awesome track last night? Does anyone have anything to add??

Severson can drive a sprint car. Too bad he didn't take the muffler off and use the 5%, he might have got the six grand.
Great night of sight's and especially sounds of sprint car racing.

Great day of racing, well worth the trip. Arrived in town early and went by to see the great job of promoting at Costco. Highlight was meeting SkyHarborCowboy. wink Victorville organizers/promoters did a great job as everything seemed to run smooth. Missed having a scoreboard and the 60's PA system was lacking but I'd return to another event anytime. Loud and fast was the theme last night.

Congrats to Blake Miller, Tony Jones & Cody. Tough breaks for Spencer, Wilson and Severson.

MILLER GRABS $5K WITH VICTORVILLE RUN
By Robert Mayson

Victorville, CA…Blake Miller (Yorba Linda, CA) took home the $5,000.00 first-place prize after he drove the Jeff Gardner / Roy Miller Freightlines No. 93 Sled to a 40-lap victory Saturday night at the Victorville Auto Raceway.

Miller started the race in the third position and immediately moved into second-place behind leader Seth Wilson. With fast time qualifier Mike Spencer charging to the front from the seventh starting spot, Wilson would pace the 22-car field for the first 22 circuits before giving way to Miller.

Spencer moved into second and would take the lead form Miller on the 25th lap. However, mechanical woes would sideline Spencer two laps later giving the lead back to Miller. Once back out front, Miller successfully withstood numerous challenges from Wilson and the Alexander Trucking No. 4 DRC driven by defending USAC/CRA Champion Tony Jones.

Jones, who started the race in the eighth-position, would eventually finish in the runner-up spot with Davey Pombo driving the Glenn Crossno / ITI Performance No. 38 Viper to a third-place finish. Josh Ford placed fourth in the Keith Ford / V-Mac No. 73. Robert Ellis edged Cody Williams to give his Hose King No. 43 Ellis a fifth-place finish. Arizona driver Shon Deskins finished seventh and received a $500 bonus for being the highest finishing car with a 360-motor.

Even though VAR drivers earned series points, the race was billed as an “open-competition” race and marked the first promoting effort for Cary Faas and Jack Gardner, Jr.

I join all of the comments about the show at Victorville. If you have been around long enough to remember Ascot, the 1st session of hot laps, with the noise of the engines, made the hair on the back of your neck stand up. The show was started on time at 7:00 PM and all 4 heats were done by 7:30.

The racing was great and congrats to Seth Wilson and Cody Williams for your great drives.

I am always amazed at how Freddie (sp) can keep track of the lineup and how everyone can get the drivers into the correct spots so fast. Must be the radios!!

Saw a lot of experienced racers and fans in the stands and enjoyed talking to them. The staff was great and it was entertaining to watch Jack Jr. and Cary run around on the front straight during red flag stops. This event was a huge effort by a lot of hard working people and it sure did show.

I even had enough cash left to buy a couple of the event t-shirts that are outstanding.

It will be hard to add any more cheers to what has already been stated. I had a blast. You could just feel the thunder in your bones. Must be the next best thing to sex hearing 22 sprint cars without mufflers. I hope that Cary Fass and Jack Gardner made out okay.

62 miles (on pavement) from the PAS to the VAS. Wonder how the K's would feel about USAC-CRA running there three or four times a year on off weekends from Perris... and if there's a "within-distance" exclusion clause in USAC's contract with the K's. I'm NOT "against" the K's (who are providing a venue we might not otherwise have); I'm just curious.

Vis the return on Jack's and Cary's investment, again SPECULATING, 1,000 paid admissions in the stands averaging $10.00 each (figuring in the children) for $10,000, plus 27 cars x four admissions each at $25.00 in the pits for $2,700, so maybe $13K to cover the purse, track rental and other expenses. They may or may NOT have "come out" on this deal, but they certainly put on a nice evening of entertainment.

Would most here pay $15.00 to get in to bring the admissions up to about $13,500.00, push the car count to about 30 and pit pass price to $30.00 to bring about $3,600.00 from the pits for an overall revenue bump to around $17K? VAS does not, after all, charge for parking.

If it's not broke, don't fix it. Leave USAC at home and just have more of what you had last night.

Let's hope that some day we can see one of these open races at the PAS.
