I saw a post on another thread that mentioned a big race at Victorville Raceway on the 19th of April. Does anyone know more about this? Will there be a large car count? What sort of drivers might be there? Would it be worth driving over from AZ to see? Can you camp at the track? Thanks for any information.

Matt

Look on page 5 of this forum for a Victorville thread, it will tell you much. Some have written they anticipate 60-70 cars. Who knows? I do not know if you can camp at Victorville. The track is at he San Bernardino Fairgrounds, You could call them or the track itself.

These guys might be underscoring this event. It has the potential of being the greatest Wild West Show of sprint car racing we've seen in decades.Check out caryfaasracing.com. Victorvilleraceway.com can give you #and info on camping at track and yes they do have hook ups. There are discounts being offered at local hotels for racers, fans. You'll be be suprised how fast the great ones are on a little 3/8 high banked oval.$50 entry $25 pit passes.......at Victorville everybodies laid back and friendly, you Arizonia guys will feel right at home.As of today $400 to start a-main $5000 to win but the purse may grow.........

Thanks for the feedback guys. We are strongly considering coming over from AZ to see this show. Who might be racing? I see USAC/CRA is off that night so might we see some of those guys? Either way with a $15,000+ purse there should be some good racing. Thanks.

OK, OK!!! Not to underplay it. Word over here in California is, if you are only going to go to one race this year, this is the one to go to. The promoters' aim, Cary Faas and Jack Gardner, is to put the fun back in racing. Where can you beat an idea like that?

See you there.

I have a great idea,.......

Since they have added the rule of no drivers under 18,.... How bout a seprate perhaps invitational feature for the younger drivers,.. might be a great way to fill abit of time. Im not sure but Ill bet there is about 12 or drivers right now that would put on a good show for 20 laps. Ill throw the first 500 bucks at the purse for the Jr. feature.

What a great idea Kevin, I will match your $500.00 for the purse. Maybe they could run under the insurance that Mike has on the track for the standard race nights. Maybe be just a pipe dream but it is worth a shot.

Matt!, tell me where to stand and at what time and I'll be there with my thumb out and some gas $ in my pocket and a smile on my face.

Kenny,

Drive down to Phoenix early AM on Sat 4/19 and you are welcome to ride over with my father and me. We are leaving my house in Peoria at 7:00am sharp. We are staying at the Comfort Suites in Victorville.
