front page allan has live updates, terrible show of cars, I guess the WoO drivers were told not to support the race, since there is not one there.

It's 3 K to win, not much of a purse to draw the Outlaws or All Stars. The past and present actions of the track's current owners have sealed their fate. It is terribly sad to see such a venerated series as the Winter Nationals fall to oblivion.

The old, you can't race for so many hours around an outlaw show was in effect. Heard one may show up tonight or at least he said that at the 360 race.

I would say most All Stars till in the area came. Many of them didn't hang around for the Outlaw show.

Treatment is also a major issue as is the cost of competing there.

The thing I'm curious about and I'm surprised no one else mentioned it (so I mighta missed something) is what happened to the non-wing races that were in Florida last year? I thought they were pretty good shows, no?

I read on another board that East Bay was $30 at the front gate for 16 cars. That does seem rather outageous for what was presented.

16 cars, what's the surprise? Look at the purse, 2 nights for 3,000 to win. The late Models race for 5,000 to win on their cheapest night.

If anyone wonders why sprint car racing is losing out to Late Models nationwide look at the purses. There are a heck of a lot more 10,000 and 5,000 to win late model shows scattered across the country. The only time you see sprints pay like that is for Outlaw and All-Star shows, so you know you have to beat quality cars to win.

I think East bay just slapped the Sprint Car community in the face.

The purses may also revolve around car count, as you will usually get more late models. Fact is, nobody ever scared themselves out of a late model, I think a lot of guys are scared to even think about strapping into a sprinter. I don't own a late model, but I cannot see them being a whole bunch cheaper than a sprinter, you have those body panels you have to keep replacing, and all those extra parts like transmissions, brakes and starters.

Jeremy: read Nodust's post above or check the main hoseheads page and repeat these words: "I" - "M" - "WE" - "TODD" - "DID". Now say them faster :-).....

Stupid sprint car drivers taking cars to East bay instead of boats, sort of like taking a knife to a gun fight.
