Just wanted to point out that the date of the Johnny Key Classic at Ocean Speedway has been changed to September 28. I still won't be able to attend but definitely wanted to give kudos to John Prentice and the Ocean Speedway gang for doing this. Very smart decision. Best of luck with the race.
Now if only Kings Speedway could find a way to change the date of the Cotton Classic. I remember how excited we all were last year when the Cotton Classic returned and everybody wants to make it an annual thing but that won't be possible with it going head to head with the Fall Nationals in Chico. The Cotton Classic is one of my favorite races but I can't see missing the Fall Nationals two years in a row.
I hope everybody has a safe and fun New Year!!!

I agree Gary - great move. As for the Cotton Classic being on the same weekend as the Fall Nationals it actually isn't the first time this has taken place ('94 comes to mind with Keith Kauffman the winner in the Fauver 64). Hanford is far enough away from Chico and the fact that it is a two night show might give the 410 guys a race that allows them to make a clear choice about where they want to be. I would love the opportunity to hit both but if push comes to shove I'll be in Chico for the Fall Nationals. One other thing I'm seeing here that I'm not sure anyone else has noticed: The 410 guys have their "month of money" in the Midwest starting in late July. If things shape up here on the west coast - with just a little cooperation - the 360 guys could see a West Coast "month of money" with a series of lucrative races leading up to and culminating in the Trophy Cup. Wouldn't that be nice?

when i saw the post on this board about the conflict of the key race i mentioned it to rick (wright) and asked if we could get it changed. i am in no way taking credit or saying i had any part in the change.just wanting to thank the party responsible for bringing my attention to the conflict and hopefully others as well, and as a result the problem was corrected.we have 360 cars that will be racing at ocean speedway ourselves and wanted the key race to be able to be a well contested event.when the idea of having a series for 360 sprints at ocean speedway started to become more and more a reality we thought it would be cool to try to bring back the name of the johnny key classic or the lloyd beard memorial race. maybe even a tribite to the san jose greats like rescino, sargent, viel, kaeding, ect.
so i was glad to hear that there would be a key race at ocean and that we would get to be a part of making it happen.but i think a race got moved to july that would have been on oct 5 so i hope that don't mess up my plans to go to any woo races in july lol.
hey the aug 31 date at ocean is the nite before the woo race at 'stoga.both haud and tk in 360's at ocean? hmm!
