Received 2 calls within the last hour. Patty Jackson has informed close friends that Bobby Jackson has passed away. He was found in his hotel bed in Palm Springs. Bobby called me a couple of weeks ago from there and talked at length about the new job that he was working on and how well he felt about his life and the way things were going. He sounded great and I really enjoyed hearing from him.
No detail on the cause of death, but will try keep everyone informed. Bobby was one of the best racing directors that I knew and well respected by the racers for his logical decisions. He worked in NASCAR for 2 years and that wore him out worse than the WOO grind. I know he will be missed by family and friends.

So sorry to hear this. I've interviewed Bobby many times and always found him insightful and interesting and someone who didn't hold back his ideas and thoughts on how to improve the sport. Really, a very cool guy.
R.I.P. Bobby. You were a good man.

Damn! As ruff and gruff as he wanted you to think he was, this was a genuine nice guy with a big heart underneath the shell. All business while on the job and a fun lovin', life lovin' guy off of it, this is real sad news. This forum right here was the place that allowed me into his world and I'm grateful to this day. Condolences to his daughter who's name escapes me, yet wrote one of the best posts ever seen in here and to Patti as well. Nobody ever worked harder for Ted Johnson and cared more about his racers than Bobby did. RIP ol' friend and wherever you are, Take It Easy.....

Mike, daughter was Staci and son was Josh. They are all going thru some rough times right now. Circumstance beyond the kids and Patti's control have left them in a tough way to get Bobby's body and vehicle back from CA. Any help anyone can get to the family would be greatly appreciated. I will know soon where everyone can send help to. I know I will surely donate as much help as they always were to me out on the road.

Man, this really sucks to hear. I just stumbled on the news tonight and was like...no way.
Like Mike said, he definitely knew how to have fun away from the track.
RIP

Mike, This is Bobby's brother, Gary. Josh is handleing all of this. Keep in touch and I will let you know where he wants any monies sent . As it is very costly bringing Bobby home. We know it is going to take about a week before his body will be back here. We will let everyone know the arrangements as we know them.

Condolences to the family, and we'll keep you in our thoughts and prayers. I always loved talking to Bobby whenever he came to Eagle. He'll be sorely missed.
I am lucky enough to work at one of the best tracks
anywhere.

It is true.. my brother and I have been solely responsible for the planning of and paying for getting my dad back to Illinois and the services. As Greg Stephens has said due to circumstnances beyond our control we've been left in a really tough way figuring out how to pay for all of it. My brother and I will be figuring out how we will handle setting up a fund for those who would like to donate. We are most definitely not looking to make any money off of this, we do not want anything extra, just enough to cover the services and transporting my dad. My family greatly appreciates all the love and support that we have received from all of you, this has been horribly tough.
I will also be writing a tribute to my dad to be published, I will let you know what publication it will be in when it is finished.

It sure would be nice to see drivers with helmet in hand hitting the grandstands at the first Wof O show at Volusia. I'm pretty confident most would be willing and it be a nice tribute to a man who gave them so much for so long, just a thought. Take It Easy.....
