Thank you
To all Friends, Relatives and co-workers of Craig, Marie and Tyler Thomas.

REJOICE!!!

After a two-year wait, Craig underwent a successful eight-hour surgery for his double lung transplant at Loyola University Hospital in Chicago. He is in critical but stable condition in the CV and THORASIC ICU. Following a four-week hospital stay he will move nearby for a three-month stay for outpatient services.

Our deepest heartfelt thanks for all your concerns and prayers from his extended family.

He can have no flowers, balloons, etc., but cards are very welcome including gift cards to help with expenses. His address is:

Craig L. Thomas

Above is a c/p from our local paper this morning ,here in Waterloo, Ia.

Craig has been a weekly regular fan at Knoxville for the past several years and has become fondly known in the pits as "Mr. Oxygen Tank Man".

He was suffering from Rhumatoid Arthritis that had settled in his lungs, and had been awaiting a lung transplant. He rarely missed a race, and loved the Nationals so much, he would drive to the the track at 8am to get a good parking spot, and then hang out all day untill the races were over, because walking had become more and more difficult, and his oxygen tanks got bigger and bigger.

About 2 weeks ago, he got his "call"!

My wife had just been on the phone with him, he was trying to figure out how he could watch the Chili Bowl. 20min. later, he was in a plane headed for Chicago!

For the first couple days he was doing GREAT, since then some complications arose and he could really use some support.

We are in contact with Marie (wife) and Tyler (son) and when we know more we can keep everyone informed.

Also, I know Wayne Johnson has been very supportive as well, Craig is probably his biggest fan. I know they appreciate it.

Craig would LOVE to hear from anyone, especially racers, so if you can, take a couple minutes and send him a card.

Thanks.

Hi Ethel, Tyler just returned from Chicago a couple days ago so he could get back to school, right now he has family staying with him, down the road, he's always welcome here.

Any news from CLM??

Also, thanks to all that have posted well wishes here, but the truth is, I have no idea when Craig or his family will be able to see this MB.

Please, if you can, send him a card.

Thanks again.

Not alot of change as of this past weekend. He's showing some signs of improvment, but still has a ways to go.

He could use all the prayer's and thought's he can get. Thanks for asking.

Had an update from Craig's wife today and thankfully things are looking better.

He's still listed as "critical but stable", but the Dr's are going to start trying to remove his ventulator a little at a time.

Marie said they have received a few cards from the race crowd, and they are truly appreciated. Thanks to those who have sent them.

Sad news.......We lost Craig today.

Over the past several weeks there had been glimmers of hope, which were nearly always followed by a re-lapse of some type.

In the end, it was just too much for his body to handle.

Craig was a fighter, and did so throughout this entire ordeal.

He left behind a wife and son that need alot of prayers and sttrength right now.

Racing, and especially Sprint car racing, has lost a devoted fan.

Our most heartfelt condolences go out to Marie and Tyler.

Craig......see'ya at the races buddy.

Wayne and I are deeply saddened by this news! We were so hopeful that we'd see him at Knoxville this season. He was not only a fan of Wayne's but a good friend and we'll both miss him very much! Marie and Tyler, we're thinking of you and if you need anything, please let us know.

Wayne and Erin Johnson
