I'm making my first visit to Thunderbowl Raceway in February for the Outlaws show! I have a couple questions. Can you have campfires. Also, what is the best seat in the house. I know most tracks it's top row, but their are always exceptions.
Thanks in advance!
Upcoming Events:
October 18 - Dirt Track Word Championships - KC Raceway
October 30 - November 1 - World Finals - Charlotte

Some of our neighbors we partied with during the Trophy Cup had one of those enclosed fire pits going and it didn't seem to be a problem. I can confirm that the bathrooms / showers are clean and I do enjoy camping at Tulare. There really isn't a bad seat in the house but I, like you, prefer to be as high up as possible. Of course I'm usually busy selling calendars so I kinda end up with whatever I end up with :-).....

Tulare is a great place to see a race! Great track and the stands are made of concrete with backs of course and the owners are a great group of people. The bathrooms and consession stand are actually underneath the stands and it really does sound like thunder when the sprint cars are racing. I usually sit in the grandstands section M and row K which is right in the middle with a good view of the whole track. When my family goes there we usually stay at Best Western or Motel 6, so I have never camped there but it looks like people have fun! You can stand pretty close to the track and it is amazing to see the cars soo close at full speed. At most races there are 3 grooves and the racers are able to put on a good show for the crowd. I hope you have a great time especially because I won't be able to go because my baby will still be too young. Tulare (The Thunderbowl) is one of the best tracks in California and maybe even the U.S., but I am a little biased Oh yeah if you get a whiff of a distictive cow smell that is totally normal and you know you are in the Central Valley, lol!
Hoosier Highbanks: Where are you from? What tracks have you been to already? Have fun at the races for me
Winged sprintcars = the fastest and most exciting
racecars on dirt!

Thanks for the great information! It sounds like a great track and an awesome experience. I'm from Anderson, Indiana, the home of the Little 500. Had been a long time pavement Late Model fan until last year, but got tired of watching single file racing while sitting in empty grandstands. Finally got a clue and started following Sprint Cars and specifically the World of Outlaws and All Stars. I haven't been to a lot of dirt tracks but some of them include Eldora, Limaland, Bloomington, Butler and Kokomo. I'm also going to Cali later this year for the Gold Cup. My favorite track is Eldora and of course the Kings Royal is at the top of my list!

You will LOOOOOOVE the Gold Cup! Show up well rested because you won't be sleeping much....... :-)...I don't know if you know when you are showing up but it helps to get there early if camping (like the week before if you can) and there is plenty to keep you busy within a mile radius of the fairgrounds. By the time Gold Cup comes around my wife and I will have been in Chico for 5 months so if you need any help just ping me.
