no kidding!
Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool,
but then I'm not 16 so therefore my opinion is of no
consequence...

I saw Stu at a few races last year at Ocean Speedway. I'm curious to see non- winged sprint cars at Calistoga also.
Winged sprintcars = the fastest and most exciting
racecars on dirt!

Kelly,
A few races? I think some of those might have been illusions because I didn't think he pried himself off the porch for anything other than the Key :-). I only got to see non-winged racing at 'Stoga one time and it was in 1984. All I can remember was that Gurney won it. My aunt and I were on our way to Clear Lake and made the impulse decision to see the race which was during the fair. We were pretty far out of our element since we were San Jose Speedway regulars and used to the HUUUUUGE wings they ran there every week. Not only was non-wing racing a bit foreign to us I don't think we knew who a single driver was. Everybody who goes Waaaaayyy back has assured me the races were better without the wings and I can only hope they are right. I've lived long enough to see enough to know that I prefer non-wing racing so Labor Day Weekend this year is something I look forward to with much anticipation :-)......

Obviously my comments above apply to just non-winged sprintcars since I did get to see every appearance of the midgets that took place during the 90's. I'm hoping the 2008 version of that is better than what I saw the last time too......

This should be a great show...Hopefully some of the NorCal teams support the show as well. Going to 'Stoga has never been the same for me since the NARC wingless days (I am dating myself I know). I can recall watching VanConett, Andreatta, Hank Butcher, Johnny Anderson, Rick & Ron Horton, GP, etc at Stoga...Great times. I know this won't bring the old days back, but, it'll finally get be back to what used to be one of my favorite tracks!

Maybe John Padjen can format The Tri-Holiday Sweepstakes, Memorial Day Event, 4th of July, and Labor day, a point fund seperate for the Winner of the 3 Events. Perris, Tulare Chico, if not at Stoga, or Perris Ocean Chico, any combo. The Andreeta-Gurney Battles were Jaw dropping to see.

man oh man i cant wait---calistoga was one of my family's camping events from around 1971 up until about 93, 3 times a year we would lode up the motor home with 4 or 5 best buds and head for calistoga ranch camp grounds and Saturdays we would sit by the pool with the elite of nor cal sprint car racing.and Sundays we would head up to our property in clear lake and ski all day i just wish the ranch was still their that would make it a great weekend.man what i wouldn't give to see the great GP (the preacher ) and other greats of the past coming off turn 4 with those skinny ass left front tires hiked way up in the air and open face helmets with goggles.lol, when they started running the wings the racing got to spread out the guys with big power just ran of and left, it no longer matured if you could drive if you didn't have a big check book you didn't go to the front hopefully we will once again see close exiting racing at stoga, and may every one be safe
