Just been nominated by Lake Country Speedway (Ardmore) promoter Ronnie Gould to compete in a media race on Saturday night, August 2nd driving one of the new Tornado cars, a new FWD division at LCS. Myself and other media members from in and around the Ardmore area will compete in a race with the winner donating the money to charity. Right now it is for $200 but look for that amount to grow.
What I need to know from you all (before all the comments about me behind the wheel) is what charity ideas do you have AND would you be interested in adding to the charity purse? My heart is and always has been with kids so maybe something along that line would be good. He is suppose to call me this weekend about other race developements and I will ask him if I can have a sponsors name put on the car. If he is okay with that and your interested placing an ad on my car or one of the other cars, let me know how much your willing to donate.
This is only January so lots of time but that is a solid plan as of now. In the meantime, I have a Will to make out. Hope you mark this date down on your calenders.

David, don't forget to turn left when you get down there and try to remeber when you get back down here..... turn left again.
If you remember these simple rules I think you will do well.

kick ass!!!!!!!
maybe I'll finally get to attend LCS - one of the few tracks int he state I haven't attended - that I actually really want too (along with WSS). I like the IMCA idea goin on down there - if the series and its drivers would do it - it would be cool to see an OCRS race or some other type of 360 race. BTW - what is the seating capacity @ LCS?

Answer to your question about a charity suggestion... I suggest the American Cancer Society to do a small part in beating this disgusting disease. It wouldn't be much, but I'd throw some coin in the purse. For your driving, I know a guy with 10 acres that would let you practice floating corners in his cousins Ford Fiesta as long as you promise not to hit the well house and try not to run over the barn cats =
What you're doing is cool and you've got this fans support regardless of the charity. Way to go dude.
No car, just a race fan.

Hey David, since you want to do something for the kids, I can think of two very good charities . St. Judes and Child Help USA.
Good Luck!!!!!!

Thank you all (I think) for all your comments, suggestions and help. We are still seven months away so I ain't thinking about it too much right now but have to admit I am daydreaming a tad. Think I might call my girlfriend Jessica Simpson that week to see if she wants to go to Cancoon that week. Then call Brittney Spears to see if she wants to go get married the night before. Then I shall show up focused.
My son and wife both glared and chuckled when I told them. Somebody mentioned passinger seat. Heck, my family don't want to drive with me in my Camry when we go places, think they want to ride on a racetrack with me? I figure GOD will be my co-piolot but sometimes I wonder what he is thinking when I go 75 mph daily from MWC to I-40 and MacAurther and the O'Reilly Distribution Warehouse everyday for work. I actually pretend I am making passes on the track, even reaching to my face to pull off tearoffs when I get out of crosstown traffic.
Since it will be August and just four months to Christmas, it could be the Christmas Connection but I will take suggestions on kids charities until then. But first things first, I will have to at least finish the race before I even think about winning it.
Thank goodness that if there was a weight rule then I wouldn't have to worry about it none.
As far as helmets and sizes, I won't go there now cause there are alot of age groups that frequent this site on a Monday morning.
