The 2008 Trophy Cup @ Tulare date has bee changed & will be the same week end as when the Outlaws are racing in Arizona, this does'nt make sense at all. This years field of drivers included current & former WoO drivers such as Meyers.Saldana,Solwold,Hannigan,Tyler Walker,T.K.,S.Stewart,J.Allard,Wimmer,along with top Ca.drivers, this provided some the best racing of the year. Since the big name drivers won 't be there it might take not have the fan support that was there this year to back the great cause of the Make a Wish Foundation ,voice your support of changing the 2008 Trophy Cup date back November.I heard they the could'nt the date they wanted but there must be another opening that does'nt conflict with WoO drivers.

Since it is a fairground track maybe there is something the fairgrounds is having as to why the date can't be used for auto racing.

The Trophy Cup was a great race when the Outlaw guys weren't there and it will continue to be a big race if some of them aren't there this year. I can bet you that there will still be a ton of big names when you put up a $100,000 as a two day purse.

What could possibly occur on a Fairgrounds that is more important than a Sprint Car Race?

Right on Gary. I would bet that at least half or more of the WOO drivers that were there last year will be there agian this year. The only ones that may be missing would be Saldana and Meyers and Hannagan if out of no where (hey things happen) he is running in the top 3 at that time of year.
6th - 10th in point in the WOO are usually pretty set by that time of year and moving up or down a couple notches will not pay as much as a decent finish in the Trophy Cup. Combine that with the amount of horsepower needed to run at Manzy compared to the Thunderbowl and you may see a few more stick around from the weekend before and run the Trophy Cup.

John, you are living in a dream world if you think any Woo driver in the top ten would miss a race to go to the Trophy Cup.

I don't think it is really that much of a stretch. Unless the points are closer than what they were this year. There were no changes in the standings from 6-14 position from the Tulare race to the final race. Let's say for arguments sake that you skip Manzy and possibly Tucson (if they ad it) for the Trophy Cup and you did slip from 7th to 10th in points. That would mean losing close to 400 points but lets say it happened. How much would you lose in end of year point funds?
Asked another way. How many teams are planning on running 100% of the schedule? 8. 10. I still say the only WOO guys that came last year that won't be there this year are Saldana and Meyers. I also think they will be replaced by other Outlaws that want a shot at real money rather than running for 5th - 15th in purse/point money.

That weekend is also the same weekend of the 21st annual Short Track Nationals. Plus the Short Track Shootout joins the STN weekend card this year. The base purse is in excess of $103,000.
The STN has been on that weekend each year. Several STN drivers also made it to the '07 Trophy Cup...
It's really not going to affect the STN at all, but it's too bad they moved their date, as it looks like the '07 TC was 'open' for many teams to attend - and they did.

I say Outlaw the Outlaws. Hell - lets say Meyers is in a heated battle for the top WoO spot and skips the race. That makes the entire upper turn one grandstands open to anyone instead of just those wearing a PriMerica jacket and hat :-). I've been to all 14 and I'll be there for the fifteenth. I'll maintian what I always maintain which is that the less national drivers that show up means that some teams that are on the fence about coming might just decide to do so. Let the money go where it should go: Top West Coast drivers and Make a Wish. Then we'll see with the sixteenth edition brings :-)...

Good deal it is a 360 race and the Outlaws shouldn't be there to start with.

Hey calendarguy, are you going to bring four to six hundred of your closest friends to replace the Primerica fan that were in the turn one stands ? I was impressed by thier showing, they were Primerica employees along with thier families that showed up to support Meyers, the Make a Wish Foundation & the Racing for Hudson cause which is in memory of Hudson Ruhterford , his parents work for Primerica. Hudson was three years old when he lost his life to cancer,so those people wearing the red shirts & hats should be recognized for thier efforts, thanks for opening the can, enjoy the racing.
I think I heard that Meyers will have the Race for Hudson banner on his top wing belly pan for the entire WoO season in 2008,that also says a l;ittle bit for # 14 driver in my opinion.

That's all great, who could say otherwise. I'm just saying I don't think we'll see em' in Tulare if that 14 car is at Manzy. What do you think? Someone paying for all 600 of them to make the trek and occupy the turn one grand stands at Manzanita? Seriously. If so I'd say they'd have the best supporter appreciation program in the sprint car racing world. In fact I'll give them credit for having that now just with what they have done at the Trophy Cup the past three years. Seriously - what other team can compare? Now if we can just get those folks to show up at more than just that one race. If anyone can figure out a way to do that this whole debate about attendance at Dirt Track Sprint racing events might just become a non-issue, eh? Either way the fifteenth Trophy Cup will be a greater success than the previous 14.

The race speaks for itself. Whoever wins will have to do what every past winner has done. Come from the back.

Another thing Tulare should look at is the economy. Being most of the people at the races in Tulare are from NOR CAL. Are all these people going to be able to attend races Tulare on back to back weekends? And the following week is the Ovals I think? Then the western? What about the weeks before? Gold Cup, Cival War ,Johnny Key? ,And then back to Chico for 3 more days. Also the Outlaws at watsonville. All great events but How can anyone afford to do it all ??? This is not the eightiesand I think the Outlaws had the highest ticket prices at thier California shows?
