Brian Cannon looking for work
By Gary Thomas
Chico, CA - December 14, 2007...Talented California crew chief Brian Cannon is looking for a team to work on for the upcoming 2008 racing season. Cannon wrenched for a few different teams this past year and has become one of the top crew chiefs in the California sprint car scene over the last handful of seasons.
The 25 year-old spent the ‘07 Golden State Challenge Series season as the head wrench on the Elite Racing No. 1 driven by Salinas veteran Ronnie Day. Despite a season of tough luck, Cannon tuned Day to a sixth place finish in the final GSC point standings, scoring 10 top five finishes and one fast time effort in 23 starts. The combination came very close to winning the Pombo/Sargent Classic at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, only to have an engine break after dominating the first 28 laps of the 30 lap feature.
In August Cannon parted ways with Elite Racing and moved back to Chico as he re-united with Auburn driver Andy Forsberg and A & A Motorsports. In 2006 Cannon had tuned the A & A Motorsports team to the Silver Dollar Speedway track championship and the Civil War Series championship, as well as wins at the Pacific Sprint Fall Nationals in Chico, the Tribute to Al Hinds in Placerville and countless others.
Once rejoining A & A Motorsports in August, the team picked up where they left off the ‘06 season. Forsberg had gone the entire ‘07 season without winning a Feather Falls Casino 410 point race at Silver Dollar Speedway, however during just Cannon’s second week back as the crew chief of the No. 92 machine, Forsberg led all 20 laps to win the Coca Cola Championship night main event at the track. One week later Cannon wrenched Forsberg to fast time and a victory during the Placerville Speedway championship season finale.
Cannon also worked for Forsberg during the final three California Civil War Series events of the ‘07 season, tallying finishes of second, fourth and fourth en route to the championship. During the Pacific Sprint Fall Nationals at Silver Dollar Speedway, Cannon tuned the A & A motorsports No. 92 to a runner-up finish on opening night and came back during the Saturday finale to score a third place result in an event that saw a stacked field of 90 cars compete. The season ending Trophy Cup in Tulare saw the Cannon/Forsberg combo score a fourth place finish during opening night out of 82 cars.
Having Cannon on board would be a huge asset to any serious sprint car team looking to gain speed. The Chico, Calif native made every team he worked for this season go fast and he has an intense passion for the sport. Cannon will bring various product sponsorship with him and he also possesses a commercial drivers license(CDL). To inquire about having Cannon on board with your racing team contact him on his cell at (530) 514-4735 or by e-mail at bcracing47@aol.com

If you hang out Brian tell about the 4th race of the new season in 08 the 24 car will be looking for a crew chief cause Tyler Walker will be kicking lee's ass when the car either isn't setup right or stuff still falling off, or the car owner figure's out lee is just a good sales man not crew chief

I think by the fourth race I f they havent won anything they will all be pointing at each other ..........................I think I would have liked to see what the 24 car could have done with Mr Cannon wrenching and Greg in the seat

the #24 car is taking over for the #10 as the new penalty box. Anyone want to start taking bets on the over/under for the number of drivers/crew chiefs for this season? One driver is already out of the ride and he didn't even run a race. I'd say there will be at least 3 drivers in the seat for 2008.

What all of you are saying may or may not be correct but can we please at least give some respect to Scott Chastain. He has brought a new 410/360 team to the California scene, I think its great to have another outlaw quality driver running here every week. Best of luck to the NMI guys in 2008!

Winged sprintcars = the fastest and most exciting
racecars on dirt!

Really think Scott, Tyler and the 24 Team will do well, in fact Win the Mini, The Dirt Cup and The Golden State Title.Theres a lot of good Teams out there, wont be a cake walk, but These Guys have the Eye of the Tiger.
Bruce
Hope Cannon does well. Would like to see Him have His Own Team for consistency.

Win the mini ,the Dirt Cup and the title ? You forgot the Gold Cup the Harvest Classic . Has Lee won a title in the last 15 years?that team will have some success but I wouldnt bet on a title .

ummmmm.....presently there is no Harvest Classic. At least not as most of us commonly know it. Of course it could end up being the much rumored non-wing return to Calistoga that traditional Labor Day weekend. Would Tyler shed the wing in the 24 car? If he does I'd pay double to see it :-).....

I thought the Harvest Classic was a Super Modified race at Madera. Mike McCann is a former winner. 1972 I think.

It is a long standing SM race at Madera with a rich tradition.
Which year McCann won (as you well know Mike) depends on which shirt you are looking at. lol

OK....funny ha ha you are both right and I pretty much knew when I posted that some smartass like you two would point out Madera. Yeah, I know, you'd rather be a smartass than a dumbass but the fact of the matter is that EVERYBODY else knew what I was talking about and the original poster too. The race traditionally held at Calistoga Speedway on Labor Day Weekend has been called "The Harvest Classic" and for how long I have no idea. I know it - you know it. SO......who is the dumbass now? :-).........just the same: I LOVE you guys! I also know very well that Mike McCann has a Harvest Classic (pavement version) under his belt. Happy Holidays!
