The good news is that I was wrong. Orders by e-mail were MUCH stronger than I predicted. So much so that the word "Calendar" is quickly becoming a four letter word in my house at the moment. Kristine is looking forward to getting her husband back as I have been hunched over a computer every night and morning trying to keep up with everything. The dust is settling now and here is the surprise outcome:
I have added the $960 that we fell short after the Trophy Cup to the total so that we did, in a round-about way, hit the goal of $6,000. Dave Pusateri has asked to roll the $480 for the Trophy Cup Organization to next year and I will be meeting with J.P. just before the end of the year to deliver $3,000 to his fine cause.
The calendars are paid for, some of the costs associated with doing the fundraiser have been recouped, and $6,000 for two fine charities was raised. In an unexpected Bonus Mike Arthur informed me that the 2008 Sprint Racing Calendar right now is the number two selling calendar second only to the 2008 Harley Calendar and this news came directly from Paul Oxman. This does indirectly help things as strong sales lessens the likelihood that Paul will have to entertain a price increase.
Too many people to thank. This has been another amazing experience. We can only go up from here :-)!
Happy Holidays Everyone!

Chris:
Thank you again from the Trophy Cup and all the work you put in. I know how many hours are put into raising money for these great charities and the children getting their wish real appreciate people like you. We will guarantee Make-A-Wish $50,000.00 next year. Hope you can do as good if not better next year. Hope you and your family have a great holiday season and a good year next year.
Dave

Robbie - Mike is teaching me how to decode Stu's posts so I will take a crack at it.
I think he is saying Chris should get photo credentials from Paul Oxman for the next Led Zeppelin concert so they could make a calender based on it. The proceeds would go to MAW. That is where it gets sketchy
MAW could be:
1. Maw was a former Jedi Shadow and one of the Seven Dark Jedi
2. Mothers Against War
3. Masters At Work, an American house music producing duo

Thats ok Robbie, I think we all thought you were talking about Stu's post.
Deciphering Stu's Posts 101 will be a required course for everyone once Mini Gold Cup gets here again.

OK - that was funny John. I was pretty sure Robbie was referring to J.P.'s post but I have a hard time seing him being a fellow Bah Humbugger :-). So I can see where you might think that it was about Stu. Now we know. My wishes this time of the year will always be stated as "Happy Holidays" since it expresses the entire series of opportunities to celebrate this time of the year that we have in the last month and a half of each year.

No - the true solution here Steve is that we drag Al's butt to more than one race / racetrack in 2008. After five or so he will start to be able to communicate in standard American English again :-)....

OOOpppss My Bad..
I too say Merry Christmas .... most of the time. Being I work for a large organization (politically correct) HR says we say Happy Holidays.
As long as everyone has a good time, remembers the reason for the season, and stays safe, I'm good.

Thanks everybody - I really appreciate it. Selling calendars at the races is pure pleasure for me - you'll never hear me complain about it. I'm at a racetrack, I'm with the people I love being with, I get to see the races, and the smiles / conversations are priceless. The online stuff is just a PITA and this year really proved what I have believed all along: Mail order should be left to Paul Oxman. Next year I will do mail order only for the people who have ordered from me in the past and others who just simply need me to do it that way. There will be no banner ad or other effort to grow that part of what I do. It will be e-mails and message board posts which will just have to do. I put too much pressure on myself to do it right because I always look at things from the perspective of the person ordering the calendars and it's just not healthy. If it weren't for the fact that it's been dead at work and I get paid to sit in front of a computer all day I don't think I could have done more than a half-assed job of it. The next few weeks should be great. Even prolonged exposure to my mother-in-law shouldn't be able to ruin the Holidays this year as we simply have so much to look forward to in 2008 :-).........
