Dang everyone this board is DEAD!!!!!!!!

lets get some good ol bullsh1t going I'll see if I can start something.

I thought the VS channel coverage of the Oval Nationals was the worst I.ve ever seen .How bout you?Ithought the camera angles were the pits why dont they just take the Raceway vidioes and use them they are much better than the so called "production company" shots and that nit wit they had doing the interviews sucked.

I'll try to help you start a little good ole fashioned sprint car bu@#&*^t. I think Mike Spencer will run away with the title next year. I think if Davey Pombo lands the 38 ride next year he will do much better than Scotty Weir. I would bet that Garret Honson probably pisses off a few drivers next year. And I hope Ludwig Solberg IV races more often next year just because his name is so cool. Just a start, maybe we can stimulate a some stuff.

OK, here you go. For you old timers. (or not) Two things. What's it going to take to get the PAS to run a double header or two, Sprints and Midgets, during the season? And what's it going to take to get Turkey Night run at the PAS, where it belongs? I been wonderin about these two questions for a while now. What am I missin?

To move the Turkey Night Grand Prix to the clay at Perris you need have seating for at least 10,000 fans. I would like to see the midgets race at Perris on Black Friday. It doesn't need to be sanctioned by USAC. BCRA wiould do just fine. But if it was a USAC National points race, many would be forced to stay. However, I think that the Agajanian family would do what they could to make sure that the attendence at the Turkey Night Grand Prix is not diluted by another event with the same cars the same weekend.

The car counts for the Western State Midgets has not been all that good the last few seasons. To get a good car count it would have to be a national show. Or an enlarged purse. Perhaps a purse (and sanctioning fee) based on how large the car count is. This would mean that it would be in the best interest of USAC to get the cars out. I think that car owners get into a rhythm, if they are conditioned to go racing every Saturday night, that is what they do. If they get used to just leaving the cars in the shop, they will do that too.

Even better...Turkey night at Irwindale, Midgets on Black Friday at Perris and Ventura on Saturday.

oh boy now I can start some real crap midgets at the PAS are not a good thing with long streights and tight turns they just don,t have the HP to get off the corners (same problem with 360s at the PAS) put Turkey night at Oildale,Tulare or Ventura but not the PAS.this is not a knock on the PAS it just is not a good midget track IMHO

now if the PAS wants or needs to have double headers how bout those late models they were great at the Kindoll.

sorry Harry the crack pipe is gone I'm giving it to Oakhurst as a wedding present (he'll need it) just kidding Mike & Melanie.

Your ideas sound good to me. More racing is always better than less. Especially open wheel. Stock cars seem to be everywhere. And I love it when the Midgets run at Ventura. But I used to go to Turkey Night at Ascot whose stands would seem to be about the same size as Perris so something must have changed for the promoters since then. Do you know how many The PAS seats? And, for the most part, those looked like completely different cars on the asphalt. Except for a few, like Cole Whitt, and he did pretty well in what looked like a dirt car reset for asphalt. Would the teams have dirt cars with them too, or change the set-up and take those pretty paint jobs out to the bull ring the next night? And is it USAC or The PAS who would decide to run the dual show, Sprints and Midgets?

Whooo boy! Now you're gonna make me really show my ignorance. I assume you have either seen or driven Midgets at Perris. But I would think a Midget could be taken into the corner faster than a Sprint and not scrub off as much speed in the tight turns. And besides, isn't everybody dealing with the same problems on the track thereby keeping the action exciting? And didn't I see Chris Wakim in a 360 win a heat race against 410s? 360s must not be that under HP for the track. And I heard that the 410s are actually a little over horsepowered in those tight turns anyway and that the drivers don't get all the way into them until well into the straights, if at all.

nope I've never driven a midget at the PAS or anywhere else for that matter but I have seen them at the PAS and they just don't seem to get off the corners that well but maybe I'm just spoiled (or hard headed) give me a high horsepower sprint to a midget any day of the week and yes Wakum and a few other 360s have won heat races at the PAS but they are the exception not the rule

I think the midgets or the 360s would be better on a momentum track like Manzy than they would be at Perris.

I would love to see the midgets at Perris on the Friday after Turkey Night if they cant move Turkey Night to Perris or Ventura! I would also call in sick to work to be able to see the Sprint Cars on that same weekend along with the Focus Midgets!

Perris is the best facility in the country run by people that really care about the fans!

The better funded teams would probably bring both dirt and pavement cars. With those double deck haulers that some of the teams have they may have a dirt track car or two hidden way in the back.

The others would have to thrash in the pits to change them over.

Hey! Don't get me wrong. The 410 Sprints are awesome at Perris and I wouldn't trade em for a Midget show. I just think some Midget shows could be thrown into the mix like they do at Ventura. Midgets would be great at Victorville too, but the facility and organization lack a little. Ventura is 185 miles from my house and I go every time the Midgets run if Perris isn't running Sprints the same night. I'm just selfish. I want more action closer to home.

Can't see any reason why it would be any worse than seeing them at Ascot (the real home of Turkey Night). Yeah, maybe the straights are a bit long for midgets, but hey, it's on dirt and at a great track with great lighting and sound system.

I would actually attend if Turkey Night was held at The Pas only because it's a dirt track, but no where on pavement.

BTW, pavement is what you drive on to get to the track...and dirt is what real men race on!!!

No shinola. So it must come down to what harryfan suggested; follow the money. The stands were large and largely full last Thursday. But , right now, I have no desire to go again. Even as good as the racing was it was mostly one lane action as asphalt usually is. Someone in an earlier blog mentioned the slide jobs on asphalt. I saw about two in a 98 lap race. They were awesome and I genuflect to the huevos rancheros grandes it took to pull those off on asphalt. But with that many Midgets and the long straights and tight turns at Perris they'rda been two slide jobs each lap. Sounds like it ain't happenin but I still say TURKEY NIGHT BELONGS AT PERRIS. And as things are now, to see a Midget/Sprint show on a 1/2 mile it's Phoenix or Las Vegas. And I'll still go to Ventura every time they sell the dual show ticket. I assume some people from The PAS must read this garbage. I'm appealing to you to please bring some Midget shows to your benchmark facility.

Thank you,

Mike

Hey Rob. If you went to Midget Week in Indiana I think there is a possibility you are spoiled.lol. I watched the clips of that week and that was some of the best racin I've seen too. Maybe I just need to shut up and go to Indiana this summer and get it out of my system.

How about a Labor Day weekend triple header.

1st day Friday night 410 sprintcars at Oildale. I think that their are enough fans in that part of the country to support a Friday night show.  I don't think they have quite the traffic problems that greater Los Angeles has on Friday afternoons.

2nd day Saturday night 410 sprintcars at Ventura. Talk about a culture shock from Bakersfield to Ventura. By the way you will see more skin at Bakersfield.

3rd day Sunday night 410 sprintcars at Perris. We then all have Labor day to recover. Some sort of point system to decide a Labor day weekend champion. A multiple set up according to the number of events that each participates in. Multiple of 1 for anyone that only runs one show. Multiple of twoif they run two shows. And of course 3 for those that race all shows. Another point system to reward those with 360's.

Sometimes the promoters need to stop competing with each other and assemble something like this.
