According to Bobby Gerould's latest column:
Some driver swaps are happening with Brandon Wimmer set for 2008 to steer the #24 car that Greg DeCaires drove in 2007.
Does this mean that after half a season, Decaires is out of the 24? If so, that didn't last long! Where does that leave Decaires for next year, as Taylor's #35 that Greg was running is set to have Scott Kinney behind the wheel?

Colby Wiesz will be in the 35 not Kinney.

This seems very un-fortunate for Greg. The owner of the 24 is or was his boss, who had never been to a race prior to last year. I was looking forward to seeing Greg back at all GSC races next year. Oh well, we can now keep tabs on how many Wimmer punts out of the park...

All I can say is WTF? As far as Wimmer goes the first words out of my mouth when the car came to a stop on Saturday night of the Trophy Cup were "well at least he only took himself out this time" :-). Usually it's not just Wimmer's car owner that needs the deep pockets and that's the saddest part of the whole deal.

If this is true it's total BS... Brandon Wimmer needs to find a one way flight back to Indiana! Save all of us from having to watch him hit everything but the bambilance every week. Greg is good enough to drive on the GSC tour, he's already proven that! Look at last years stats from the weekly shows at chico, Greg ran exactly half of the races, and his half season total prorated over the whole season would have been enough for the championship! Greg's a great guy and doesn't deserve to lose this ride.

when they hired Lee Lingren as the crew chief, you had to know Greg's days were limited.

I was suprised at this annoucement also. So the 24 NMI car is going to race the entire GSC series with Brandon Wimmer? I know Brandon Wimmer is fast and can win races, I just don't like the fact that he took out many drivers last year. Maybe he will race cleanly next season

man, if I was a car owner,lol.... umm correct me if Im wrong, but Greg is one of the last 4ish drivers that ran Stoga in a non-wing car and wasis respectable....
hmmm... He'll find a ride if he wants one.
Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool,
but then I'm not 16 so therefore my opinion is of no
consequence...

Hmmm lets see .....does anyone remember the 1k ? I believe Greg was in the seat of that car when Lee backdoored him and now lets his brother in law poison the well again .Lee wants to be a outlaw crewchief(Lets count his championships) he doesnt care if he screws anyone over doing it (or runs the team out of money ).I have heard that this in no way has impacted Gregs employment .I did hear that Greg opted out of the car .Now Greg has 3 recent championships and is probably one of the best if not the best at bringing your equipment back in one piece , Lee ran the 1k operation into the ground but this time has found some deeper pockets ,he is a decent wrench and an even better snake oil salesman . Greg is a standup guy and I hope he finds a ride , Wimmer will wins some stuff piss everyone off and probably still not beat BK

Sounds like Greg wanted out, and the car owner found a gasser who will go out and find a way to win races. What else do you want a car owner to do? Good luck Wimmer...looks like your in a car that will last the whole season...

As long as there are owners w/ deep pockets there will be rides for drivers like Wimmer
