Sorry, I see they clear the pits and stands at 1pm.

So if you want to walk the pits for free, late morning is better.

Thanks for the update!

In case you haven't already heard, If you plan on having a beer or 5 at the event, and you are getting a pit pass, be sure to buy beer out of state, as all beer in OK is 3.2 beer, other than crafts. You can bring beer into the building for the pits (at least I have every year, by the case and walking right in with it) however I do not think the same goes for the stands, but I've never sat in the stands. Just a helpful tip!

So is there anything to do between 1 and 4?

Probably won't get your answer on time, about to leave & find out, its 11:36 AM

But if you're online now, let me know....

1:30 p.m. Open grandstands and pits for entry with ticket or pit pass
2 p.m. Drivers draw for heat starting positions at chalkboard

6:45 p.m. Vacuworx Race of Champions Draw (Infield)
7 p.m. E Main Races (1 or 2 races, Top 2 to back of corresponding D Main)
7:15 p.m. D Main Races (2 races, Top 2 to back of corresponding C Main)
7:45 p.m. C Main Races (2 races, Top 4 to back of corresponding B Main)
8:15 p.m. A Qualifier Races (4 races, top 16 in combined passing points to A, balance to Twin Bs)
8:50 p.m. Vacuworx Race of Champions Hot Laps
9 p.m. Track Maintenance
9:20 p.m. Vacuworx Race of Champions (20 laps)
9:55 p.m. B Features (Top 4 to A—15 laps each)
10:20 p.m. A Feature Start (24 cars—25 laps)
10:30 p.m. Curfew

Probably not a ton going on other just walking through the pits and getting some food either there or elsewhere. As for the goggles it all depends where you sit. Right after track prep in the first 5-10 rows it on the corners or on entry/exits you can plan on getting hit with some mud but it gets better after 15-20 laps. You will still get some dirt thrown at you but it will be less frequent. You'll certainly be more comfortable with some safety glasses on than nothing. Dust in there has never really bothered me too bad until the A mains usually as they keep the surface worked over nicely throughout the week.

Mi Cocina's - Chuy's - Ted's Escondito Cafe

Rank them and why

thanks!  Part of the fun of the Chili Bowl is good Tex Mex

Chuys and Mi Cocinas are too close to call and depend on my mood. Chuys has good salsa and fajitas. MiCocinas has solid brisket tacos. Recently moved back to TX after living in Broken Arrow literally 3 minutes from Teds. Definitely like the free queso, but their fajitas have a harsh twang from the marinade that i don’t care for at all. Tamales are a bit better, but we always ended up at Chuys down 71st

You don't say where you are from, or where BBQ is better than it is locally around Tulsa.  Perhaps you havn't been to the right places.  Oklahoma Style BBQ is one of the best.  Head West from Expo Sq the short distance to Harvard st. Turn North (right) and go about 4 miles, its on the right side of the road.  When you go past Pine st, you're about 1/2 mile farther North.  Another great place, although a bit of a drive, about 25 miles, is Mac's BBQ in the town of Skiatook, North of Expo Sq.  Take hwy 75 North to hwy 20, go West (left) about 5 miles to town.  Just past the WalMart on the right is Macs.  Also in the Tulsa area for Mexican food at a great price is Senor Salsa, find them on the net. I reside in the area and have been to almost all the Chili Bowls.  If there is anyway I can assist, let me know.  A great place for breakfast and the owners are gearheads is the Freeway Cafe's.  There's two near Expo Sq.  One on Sheridan at about 6th st.  And one on 3rd st West of Utica.

Lived in DFW most my life but did live in Broken Arrow from 2014-2016 before moving back. Have traveled TX extensively specifically to eat BBQ and been to KC a couple times do do the same. While I lived in BA, probably visited 10, 11 BBQ joints and food trucks in the area. Burn Co was by far the best, but still doesn’t come close to the best places in Central TX or KC. Do enjoy the smoked bologna OK turns out. Perhaps we can try those places you mentioned soon!

Contrary to what Texans believe to be the best is in Texas?  Oklahoma has it all beat, hand's down.  Football too.

I gotta admit,  the two or three BBQ joints I went to in Tulsa are not near as what is available in Denver either.    Two schools of thought on wny.....A,  it is just regional taste preferences and B,  one of the local place I went was the Billy Simms place and it was HORRIBLE which affected my judgment on all Tulsa area BBQ.
