WESTERN MIDGETS AT ALTAMONT SATURDAY; RAHE TOPS VENTURA 30-LAPPER
Johnny Rodriguez of Elk Grove, Calif. will try to protect his lead in the USAC Western Midget Series this Saturday in the “Open Wheel Madness” racing program at Altamont Motorsports Park in Tracy, Calif. The event also features the USAC/CASA Western Sprint Cars.
Rodriguez leads Scott Pierovich by 38 points with Rodriguez’ car owner and teammate only 39 points back going into the Tracy event.
Chris Rahe of Placentia, Calif., who ranks fourth in the standings, won Saturday night’s 30-lapper at Ventura (Calif.) Raceway, leading all 30 laps to beat Jerome Rodela, Rodriguez, Mitchell and Shannon McQueen.
Tony Hunt, Ryan Kaplan and Kody Swanson won USAC Midget races last year on the Tracy pavement.
