From Dirt Motorsports:

Penalties issued

Separate incidents during the World of Outlaws event on Saturday night at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif., resulted in fines for two teams.

The Kasey Kahne Racing team was fined and put on probation for the remainder of the 2007 season when a crew member violated Rule 9.m and p in the World of Outlaws Sprint Series Rule Book by initiating a physical altercation on the track.

Additionally, TMAC Racing Inc. was fined and placed on probation for the remainder of the 2007 season for language in a post-race interview deemed inappropriate and detrimental to the sport of sprint car racing.

Both teams are eligible to appeal their penalties.

swamp, you had to go and ruin the love fest.

an insider just posted below that it was no big deal and "refreshing" that racers lash out over the public address system...maybe it is time to revise that comment?

priceless

WoO must have their head up their posterior to fine TMAC anything more than a dime.

WoO has NO real STARS this year that the public can love to hate.

Donations to pay for Terrys "fine" will be forwarded to Terry if you send them to the address below.

Jeesch DIRT, I supported you and your goals, but damn you make some stupid PR errors.

Well at the time, there had been nothing done so the answer was no, not at that time. There was no question as to if "he/they" would be.

Appeals cost $500 bucks, lets all send the money to the protest fund, and maybe distric court if WoO doesn't pull their heads out.

Jack Hewitt, if you are here PLEASE explain to these clowns what real racer means.

so now the Iowa WoO supporters turn on WoO for a slap on the wrist!

might the WoO be leveling a penalty because they have "more cars" than they really need on the tour?

DIRT Motorsports did what they had to do.

Like it or not, this isn't Ted's roving band of outlaws anymore. With the ongoing need to procure sponsorship and exposure for the growth of the organization and overall sport, incidents like what happened at Tulare must to handled properly. This wouldn't have been good had it happened on ESPN2.

There aren't any major sports, entertainment or motorsports groups that would allow those actions to go unpunished. I don't know of any individual tracks or associations that don't have rules pertaining to sportsmanship.

Hard-core fans like to romanticize about Steve and Sammy or Jack layin' down their own brand of justice but it's a different time with different stakes. Image is important to the corporate world. These drivers and teams race for more money and have the opportunity to attract sponsorship and exposure because they race with the most prominent organization in dirt track racing. For DIRT Motorsports to attract the things neccessary to maintain and build on that opportunity, there has to be rules of conduct.

DIRT laid down the law early in the season and I applaud the decision.

He/she is certainly not a prophet, but those who chose to insult, defame or otherwise belittle nsl19 should now be big enough to step up and retract or apoligize. Don't you think??

I disagree John.

I for one really could care less about a bunch of PC NAPCAR types screwing up our niche market.

Give 'em hell Terry
