Subject: Don't Close Your Blinds
sad but true, this is why we are at war.
> Don't Close Your Blinds > > The other day, my nine year old son wanted to know > why we were at war.... > > My husband looked at our son and then looked at > me. That's fine and it's a great analogy but let's all remember that it was Dubya's dad that called off the wolves before the job was done in the first gulf war and the US government knowingly did nothing when Saddam was very much in Iraq but he was "our bully" when the Iran / Iraq war was going on. It may be comforting to forget the past to feel better about the present but it's the lessons of the past that are supposed to prevent this shit from happening again any way, isn't it? Ask your son this: The bad guy across the street is dead but it turns out all the stuff you saw was smoke and mirrors to make you THINK he was a big threat - what do you do now? While you're at it you should ask him why, while he was paying all this attention to the trumped up bad guy, wasn't he spending anywhere near as much effort as he needed to hunting down the asshole that killed 3,000+ people by orchestrating some planes to fly into buildings in someone else's neighborhood? Hell, while you're at it, you might as well ask him if he - or any of the rest of us for that matter - are any safer because the trumped up bad guy is dead now.....

Read again: I never said he wasn't a "bad" guy. In fact I thought the first Gulf war was about as "just" a war as you could point to as an example. Even had a true International coalition supporting it. Right up until they told Norman Schwarzkopf to stop short of finishing the job it was masterfully executed. The trumped up part of it was the level of his threat to us. We didn't go in there because he was a bad person to his people so much but, if you rewind back to the stated justification to going in there, because we KNEW he had WMD's. FOR SURE! That's what they told the world. They should have at least planted some so that this mess wouldn't look like someone utilized their position as president to finish something your daddy couldn't. Wait - I didn't just type that did I? Well shucks and golly gee I did.......Hopefully Dubya doesn't look at the Internets.......
