McKenney Masters Madera

Thrilling the hometown crowd, Clovis’ Dallen McKenney swept the Midget portion of the Pombo Classic, wining the feature, trophy dash, Heat 2, as well as scoring Fast time laurels. McKenney masterfully piloted his #88 TCR/Goewens Mopar, triumphing in the 30-lap Bay Cities Racing Association Midget feature at the speedy 1/3-mile Madera Speedway on Saturday, July 19.
McKenney overtook early race leader Kyle Dickerson on lap six en route to claiming his second BCRA feature win of 2008, the other having come at the Vukovich Classic at Madera in May.
McKenney rocketed ahead of the field in a nearly incident-free race, claiming the win over Shannon McQueen aboard her #7 Stealth/Esslinger, Nick Foster, Jr. aboard Jim Fowler's #24 Beast/Esslinger, Washingtonian Mitch Hoffses aboard his #5 Hawk/Gaerte and Clovis’ “Rock Star Danny Parker aboard his #38 Beast/Esslinger rounding out the Top Five.
McKenney joins North Carolina’s Shane Hmiel and BCRA rookie Marco DeGeorge as the only two-time victors in 2008 BCRA Midget action.
The only race cautions were when Dickerson spun on Lap 27, when Scott Nail spun Stu Donaldson’s #8x Stealth/Pontiac on the Lap 28 restart and Midget Lite graduate “Nitro” Nick Chivello struck the back straight wall in the #27b Daniel Chivello Beast/Esslinger on lap 28.
McKenney claimed the four-lap Dash over Hoffses, Chivello and McQueen.
McKenney triumphed in Heat 2 over Hoffses, McQueen, Chivello and Nail.
Foster won Heat 1 over Dickerson, Alvis, Donaldson and Parker.
McKenney claimed Fast time with a qualifying mark of 14.067.
Nail continues leading the BCRA Midget points over Nick Foster, Jr. by a mere nine points, with seven-time BCRA champion “The Ageless Wonder” Floyd Alvis resting third.

The BCRA Midgets return to Dirt next week at Antioch Speedway on July 26, then take a week break before going back to the Dirt on August 9 at Placerville Speedway and August 16 at Petaluma Speedway.
