I asked one of the race officials what the track freq was, and he said "I'm not going to tell you. We don't give that out."
Nice try bud...I found you anyway...:)

Not all that dumb really. Fans and crew listening on on officials radio chatter is the source of more confusion than anything else. The problem mainly comes from not paying attention 100% of the time and not understanding the ways the officials communicate with each other. They hear part of a conversation and jump to conclusions. I wish the tracks I worked for had scrambled channels. Many times I had to correct someone who came down out of the grandstands or out of the pits because they heard something and didn't understand or completely mis-interpreted what was being said. Most of the time it was just an pain in the butt but occasionally it was comical trying to explain why they are wrong.

I like listening, because it's a good way to keep the officials honest........ Or more accurately, see who's getting favorable treatment.

Besides NASCAR, the dumbest people in racing have hung out at Hagerstown over the years.
The hopeless desire to outrun Bud Grimm's Fords is
why central PA became the toughest place to race on
the planet. Even the KING couldn't run with Casey
Luna's Fords on a tacky track. It's a crying shame
that current car owners failed to notice.

Dumbest thing I ever heard came from a guy with a scanner. Remember the time someone posted they heard on their scanner at the Grove Ted Johnson tell Schatz to stop on the track cause Mark Kinser needed a yellow to catch the leader so the posse would not beat the outlaws?! What a moron.
So vtfan, what fantastic, secret, inside info did you learn after finding their freq???

Apparently notbody goes to Hosehead's main page anymore. He has a nice little section linked off of the main page titled "scanner frequencies" that has hagerstown listed.

I didn't find anything out that wasn't already known to everyone at the track. That's the weird part about their secrecy.
As far as the scanner freq link, I didn't have time to check it, before I left work (of course, had I known they would have put WAY too much water on the track, and therefore start hot laps 1 hour late, then I would have had plenty of time to check the link out before I left)

Hagerstown is a nice track...good facilities and all. The people who run it are a bit suspect though. I think they worry too much about their own bottom line and don't pay enough attention to the fans who pay the money that gives them their bottom line.

everybody knows Ted never said anything on the radio about track prep or how the show was run...including the pissing around for top teams to change engines!
Lincoln 1845 ft/.35 mile T1=118MPH
Eldora 2287 ft/.43mile T3=135MPH
Port 2716 ft/.51 mile T3=TBD
Grove 2792 ft/.53 mile T3=135MPH
Selinsgrove 2847 ft/.54 mile T1=136MPH

The surface and facilities are great. The attitude, mentality and manners of the people have always been awful. I guess the Plesssingers hire people like themselves. The food sucks too while were at it.

Completely agree. A beverage of your choice is on me.

Dumbest thing I ever heard:
Tim Kaeding, at Chico, was running in 5th during a yellow.
Girl says: No, he's in 6th, to her boyfriend
Boyfriend says: No, he's in 5th
Girl says: NO, in 6th, as (she counts cars) 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6!!
Boyfriend says: He's in 5th! That 1st car is the PACE CAR!!!
NOW THAT IS DUMB!!
