Everybody who loves racing should see the movie " The Worlds Fastest Indian" starring Anthony Hopkins. Based on a true story of an aging man from New Zealand who came to America to run at Bonneville. What a character. On the DVD, under special features, is a documentary made in the early 70's with actual footage of the man, Burt Munro. I checked it out from the library on the cheap. You'll love it.

One of my favorites Rob, with some great old film of Midgets at Carrell Speedway. Billy Coy was trying to catch up to happy to let him know his wheel was loose with some bad results. I remember when you used to find in on what they called the late, late show.
Another great movie with some very good Champ Car film is...

" The Worlds Fastest Indian" is a great film also..

All great movies, I had forgetten "To please a Lady" - it was very good. Just watched the "World's Fastest Indian" movie with Anthony Hopkins and I really enjoyed it. Hopkins is such a great actor. Mickey Rooney was very good in that old one, but don't know about shopping at Walmart? :) I don't go there.

You certainly are right about The Worlds Fastest Indian movie . Me and my son were at Bonneville the weekend the movie was shot there. Mike Tomas of Kiwi Indian in Riverside was a consultant and can give you all kinds of information on my hero Burt Monroe . How do we keep the dust out of turn 4 in the Santa Ana conditions ???

Good One Kenny. I have heard that "Dust to Glory" is a good movie on the Baja 1000.

It is Joe, and back to 2 wheels..Even if you're not a big motorcycle fan, Bruce Brown's "on any Sunday" is one great film. Bruce also made the "Endless Summer", both classics and both capture a special time for a lot of us.

What about the cult classic, "Showtime" staring Jim Carey and narrated by Scott Daloisio? It plays somewhere just about every Saturday night. It's a winner!

Awful story line but it did have some very good racing scenes in it. IIRC there were a bunch of F1 drivers from that time that made cameos in the movie (Jim Clark, Phil Hill, Graham Hill and Jackie Ickx spring to mind). Admiral Yamamoto from "Midway" hires Rockford to drive his car in this movie.

I've always had a soft spot for "Sixpack"( even though I don't care for Latemodels)......lol "Heart like a wheel" is a pretty good drag racing flick about the career of Shirley "Cha Cha" Muldowney

They did a fair bit of work on that at the old Orange County International Raceway. I recall seeing them filming with the old dragsters on the "run what ya brung" nights and meeting Bonnie Bedalia there.
