Does anyone have any old 6 pin slotted wheels they want to sell or trade ? I need 2-15x8 and
2-15x12.Locating wheels has been a major pain.I have some Duralites that just don't look right.I still can decide whether to start on my Walker car or start on the Edmunds chassis.

Check out this guy he has a item on e-bay right now item # 290208629590, he collects old wheels. His e-mail address is greg-shelton@sbcglobal.com, His phone # is 555-784-7809. Good Luck

The rear end would most likely be a 2 1/2" then. Legit non-decorative knockoffs in the 2 5/8" range are getting hard to find these days.
|
I want to see what the Winters knock-offs look like and what it will take to redrill and tap to 2 5/8".I would think my only expense would be a left and right tap.At $30.00 a piece,it is a bargain when compared to what they are bringing on Ebay.

Have you considered buying used Ansen slotted and have them drilled the 6 pin knock? I did that on a Nance sprint I restored in 1993. You can use the Ansen for show & other wheels if you run it on the track. The pressure plate will cover the original holes in the wheel. Ansen polish to a nice finish.

Just found some interesting pieces on E-bay(where else?) for someone looking for Halibrand smoothies. They are aluminum smoothies from early 70's Lincoln Mark(2 door) cars. Are 15", but only 6" wide. Are drilled 5 on 5, and appear to have a somewhat recessed center, so would take plugging, redrilling and a filler plate if you were going with knock offs. Would work for fronts, but would have to be widened for rears.

Currently on eBay is a complete set of Halibrand ko's in 2.625 w/pressure plates. Being sold in 2 right sides and 2 left sides. Currently at about $120 per set with 1 1/2 days left. This is about the price of aftermarket ko's, without pressure plates, that would have to be reworked. Will be interesting to see what they sell for. Appear to be in excellent shape. eBay #s are:
110229560591 and 110229561019
Also on is a Schroeder steering box. eBay # is:
230229367979
I talked to Scott with Team3/ET wheels. Their ko is an exact copy of Halibrand. It is a forged unit as is a real ko and not just window dressing. Said they bought a Halibrand off eBay and sent to their vendor to copy, but left the Halibrand name off for obvious reasons. They are threaded to mate to original cobra/gt40 hubs, but that is smaller than 2.625, so could be bored and rethreaded. They sell for $50 and are polished. Would guess they could be bead blasted to make look as-cast.

| Vehicle Description from the ebay site |
|
THIS AUCTION IS FOR ONE VINTAGE SUPER MODIFIED/SPRINT CAR. THIS CAR IS COMPLETE EXCEPT FOR THE ENGINE AND 3 SHOCKS. THIS CAR IS IN GREAT CONDITION AND INCLUDES 7 SPARE WHEELS AND TIRES AND HEADERS. IT ALSO INCLUDES THE FILTERS AND STACKS FOR A HILBORN INJECTION. THIS CAR INCLUDES THE POWER STEERING, REAREND. IT HAS BRAKES ON THE LEFT FRONT AND BOTH OUTSIDE REAR TIRES. THIS CAR WAS BUILT IN WICHITA KANSAS IN THE 70'S BY A CHASSIS SHOP NAMED JEELLO (NOT SURE HOW IT IS SPELLED). THIS WOULD MAKE A GREAT CAR FOR A VINTAGE CLASS OR RESTORATION PROJECT. THE WELDS ARE PROFESSIONAL AND NO CRACKS OR BENDS ARE FOUND ANYWHERE. THIS CAR HAS A SOLID FRAME AND NEEDS VERY LITTLE WORK TO MAKE IT A RUNNER. ASK ANY QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE. THIS WILL BE LISTED ONE TIME ONLY. WILL NOT SHIP. MUST PICKUP. SEND INTERESTING SWAPS YOU MIGHT HAVE. IF YOU NEED ADDITIONAL PICTURES I CAN TRY TO GET THEM. WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END THE AUCTION EARLY. THIS MACHINE IS OFFERED LOCALLY. THANKS AND GOOD LUCK.

What is the difference between International and Ford spindles? Can I fit Ford spindles to an International axle?

International king pins are larger in diameter than the Ford. The IHC also takes a larger wheel bearing. I have used both. You can sometimes bend a Ford king pin in a wreck making the car almost impossible to steer. I have never heard of an IHC pin bending. Both spindles have to have the end machined back to make the area from the inside bearing to the outer end shorter. I am telling you this from experience. I made jigs to make front axles to fit either IHC or Ford king pin/spindles. I had a jig for each.

I think Ansen is making new ones don't know what sizes. Some times you can find some and have them redrilled.

There is a car show, parts and auction at the Daytona International Speedway this Friday, Saturday & Sunday. I intend to look around for anypars (wheels) that be used on this site. I will let you know. I live about 5 miles south of the Speedway.

Not only are the king pins different, the spindles are different degrees. The Ford I think are 7 & the IH are 10.

From time to time I've been looking at an old Walker that has the first 4-bar style they came out with, where the torsion bars go along the frame rails.
Any idea how many Walker built this way?
