BEST IN OPEN WHEEL RACING TO CONTEND FOR IMPACT RACING $50,000 BONUS AT NATIONALLY TELEVISED PRI-MOPAR SPRINT & MIDGET CLASSIC
Event to be broadcast on ESPN2
By Pete Evanow
LAGUNA
BEACH, CA (Nov. 10, 2006) The best in open wheel racing have
madeplans to participate in the 2nd Annual MOPAR-PRI Sprint &
Midget ClassicPresented by FedEx, to be held Friday night, December 15,
2006, at OrlandoSpeedworld in Florida. These "Double Duty" drivers will
compete in both the Sprint and Midget events, which offer the driver
who can win both races a$50,000 bonus prized from Impact Racing.
With
a total purse of $125,000, this spectacular event offers four big
races: Focus Midgets, Legends Cars, Sprint Cars and Midgets. The
special challenge in the Impact Racing bonus prize is that the winner
of the 40-lap Sprint Car feature race must start dead last in the
40-lap Midget feature race, and pass the entire field to collect the
big money.
Among the talented drivers going for the "big bucks" are the following:
Bobby East - NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver; 2004 USAC National Midget Champion.
Dave Steele - 2004-2005 USAC Silver Crown Champion.
Josh Wise - 2005 USAC National Midget Series Champion.
Dave Darland - USAC "Triple Crown" Winner; Two-time USAC National Midget Champion.
Tracy Hines - 2000 USAC Silver Crown Champion; 2002 USAC National Sprint Car Champion.
Tom Hessert III - 2003 USAC National Midget Series "Most Improved Driver"
Ron Gregory - 2003 USAC National Midget Series "Rookie of the Year"
Kyle Nicholas - Driver for Tony Stewart Racing Enterprises in 2006.
Levi Jones - 2005 USAC National Sprint Car Champion.
Rex Norris III - 2004 Midwest Ford Focus Midget Car Series "Rookie of the Year"
The
race is all part of Industry Week in Orlando, as the 19th Annual PRI
Trade Show returns for its second year to the Orange County Convention
Center.
Four races are scheduled for the Friday night event.
Drivers will journey from across the U.S. to participate in the Sprint,
Midget, Focus Midgets and Legends events. The respective fields are
filling quickly since the call for entries went out five weeks ago.
Masters
Entertainment will produce two shows to be broadcast later on ESPN2.
The first of two half-hour shows will focus on the events leading up to
the final two features while the second half-hour will highlight the
night's Sprint and Midget races, which will include the "dash for the
cash" the $50,000 Impact Racing bonus, awarded to the driver who wins
the first feature and then, starting from the rear of the field in the
second race, takes the checker first in that event. Broadcast dates
will be announced soon.
It will be a fun night, with additional
grandstands and expanded food offerings to accommodate our fans,
declared Steve Lewis, promoter of the MOPAR-PRI Sprint & Midget
Classic, and producer of the PRI Trade Show. We have a lot of
manufacturer and sponsor support, and total prize money is now set at
more than $125,000. There¹s a lot to offer all competitors, especially
those performing double duty that night.
Starting the evening off will be the popular drifting exhibition sponsored by Nitto Tire.
General
admission tickets are $20.00 each. Shuttle service from the Orange
County Convention Center, where the PRI Trade Show will be held, is
complimentary. Gates open at 3:00 p.m. and the first race begins at
7:00 p.m. For more information, please call 800.515.8445, or visit
