I was wondering what everyone thought about who makes the best Head and Neck Restraint Systems.

Cost is not really a factor for me, so i was leaning towards the R3 by LFT http://www.lfttech.com/

Anyone have any experience with these or feel better about another type of system? I am just getting into 305 sprint car racing and really do not want to cut any corners here.

Thanks for any advice!

I would give Butler Built a call and do whatever they say.

Jeanne has a wonderful record of what is good or not.

Also, you could ask any KNoxville Fire and Rescue crew member for an unbaised opinion.

The KRCO chose Butler for the seats to be GIVEN to all of its drivers, Butler must be doing something right!.

I've asked a couple drivers who have taken nasty tumbles at Knoxville which one is best, and they swear by the Hans.

Just get the HANS David, and a Butler seat. HANS limits forward movement, seat limits side movement. When Stevie flipped at the 2005 360 Nats he didn't have the HANS, at the 410 Nats he was wearing my helmet and HANS. Said he could feel it pull his head back.

You think he made a mess of the car, that helmet of his with the HOLE punched clear through it was almost a mess.

What can I say, KRCO was kind enough that season to provide the drivers with safe helmets, now safe seats.

Knoxville Raceway, is a great place to call home!

Is the FAA report in yet in this accident?

Looks like driver error to me, he went Right when clearly he should have gone left! (took the wrong exit)

Larry- Stevie is one of those drivers I spoke to about that. Those 2 wrecks were very nasty... He told me that in the 360 Nats he had the Hutchens and it didn't work too well.

Well, there ya go, David. Nodust has it right, the Butlers are the source. Seat isn't cheap but neither is your life. Duane, the 410 Nats crash was caused by a broken spindle, not a wrong turn. Not sure which one the photo is of, both were nasty. The helmet hole was at the 360 nats, part of the wing tree did that. Didn't quite get through the padding, thank God. We didn't file a flight plan so please just don't keep mentioning it and showing the altitude, maybe FAA will never notice. Droud(?) in Ed Gifford's 17g was actually above the fence in what, 2003-2005? The car straddled it and fell back, into the track. Don't know how to post pics here but if I scanned it maybe I could get it on here.

You are cutting Stevie too much slack, I could never think of giving him the benefit of the doubt LOL LOL LOL.

Both times, Stevie was smiling, I think this is the photo that punched the hole in the helmet, the helmet was painted with his name on it.

Anyway you cut it, it was a scarry SOB and worse when we saw what could have been.
