I will be making my first ever trip to the Chili Bowl in January. I have heard that it is really cold in Tulsa that time of year but I was wondering what it is like inside the Expo Center? I am ceratinly open to any othet advice that you experienced Chili Bowl veterans might like to offfer. Thanks.

First of all, You are in for a real experience. My Dad and I went in 05 and really enjoyed it. It does stay slightly warmer inside but you will most likely need to wear a light jacket or sweatshirt while in there. It does tend to get a little smoggy after a few races but they have ventilation on the whole time and usually clears up quickly after a few breaks. The only advice this one timer can offer is- Just try to soak it all in and enjoy your first one.

I live here in Tulsa Mokker. Here is what you can expect:
1. Yes, it will be cold. How much just depends. It gets warm inside the building. Many people, myself included, take off our coats as it gets a little warm with it on inside. Believe when I say you will need the coat getting to your car afterwards though.
2. Prepare to smell like exhaust fumes. Although there is a ventilation system, the smell of fumes is deeply embedded in your hair, skin, clothing and this is true......even your program will smell like exhaust. First thing I do when I get in each night is hit the shower.
You will enjoy this event. It's just of those 'one of a kind' deals. I have friends that come once and can't keep from coming back.
Pray it does not snow. We got 10.4 inches of snow yesterday. Looks like a winter wonderland outside right now.

This will be number 12 for me. Went there for the first time in 96, and Rob is right, you go once and you will never want to miss one. I always wear a t-shirt inside, but i don't ever get that cold. As far as the weather goes, you just never know. I have been there when it was 70 outside, and i have been there when it was 20 with snow & ice. Enjoy your rookie Chili Bowl mokker1, and start saving for 08 because you are not going to want to miss another one.
John, get all of that snow out of the way the next four weeks so we can get some nice chamber commerce weather for January.;)

Working on that request Mikey. It is s-l-o-w-l-y melting now. Had record lows the past few nights.....UGH :(
Look forward to seeing you next month. With Lee coming back, we all need to hook up for lunch or something.
