2nd place finish at Bob Ramey Memorial highlights weekend for Brian Brown/ Knoxville Round #2 up next

By Gary Thomas

Grain Valley, MO - May 3, 2007...After winning the Knoxville Raceway season opener on April 21, Grain Valley, MO driver Brian Brown came into this past weekend with momentum on his side. On tap for "Blackjack" and the Doogs Racing team was a night of action with the World of Outlaws at Knoxville on Saturday and an evening of competition with the Winged Outlaw Warriors in Sedalia, MO on Sunday.

Brian kicked off the weekend at Knoxville and a stunning field of 56 cars was hand to greet him. He began the night by qualifying 18th quick with a lap of 15.336 aboard the Ditzfield Transfer, American Compressed Steel, Housby Trucks, Maxim Chassis No. 21x. This would normally give a driver an up front starting spot in their heat race, but with the World of Outlaws this season only the top 16 drivers make the inversion for the heats. This put Brian in the third row of his heat and he drove the Michael Ross Memorial Foundation, K & N Filters, Yeager’s Harley Davidson, Weld Racing No. 21x to a fifth place finish, putting him into the B-main.

"Blackjack" was up to the challenge in the 12 lap B-main and he brought home a second place finish to transfer the Doogs Racing No 21x into the night’s 25 lap feature. Just making the feature on this night was a chore. During the latter stages of the race he had a right rear tire going flat and managed to bring home a 19th place finish after 25 laps.

On Sunday night Brian and the team made the drive to the Missouri State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, MO. The night was sanctioned by the Winged Outlaw Warriors and was a make up date after the event, known as the Bob Ramey Memorial, was rained out on April 7.

Brian lined up in sixth in the night’s fourth heat race and he put on a show to the front as he carved his way forward. "Blackjack" was sitting in third on a mid-race restart and as the green flag came out he passed both the cars sitting in front him to take the lead. Brian proceeded to motor away from the field and pick up the win in the Hostiowa.net, Champion Brands, Butler Built, Bell Racing No. 21.

Brian lined up on the outside of the front row alongside Danny Lasoski and he settled into second as the green flag waved on the 20 lap feature. Brian ran solidly in second the whole race and managed to close in on Lasoski late in the going, but ran out of time and had to settle for a second place finish.
