Jerry Everhart passed away yesterday (October 8th) at his home in Arkansas. He will be cremated and there will be no service.

As a son of Harry Everhart and a nephew of Bill Everhart (both of whom raced in the Wichita area in the '40s and '50s), Jerry came from a racing family. Jerry raced jalopies himself in the '50s and '60s before competing in the supermodifieds both locally and with N.C.R.A. in the '70s and '80s.

This is incomplete but I have put together a few of Jerry's stats:

He won at least one points championship at 81 Speedway (1981) driving his own supermodified #37E.

Jerry competed in the Hutchinson Nationals eleven times between 1961 and 1982. His best finish there came in 1973 when he qualified fourth and finished third.

Here is an incomplete list of car owners that Jerry drove for over the years: Keith Wertz, Evert Isaacs, Bob Billups, Al Weiland, Buddy Cumlet, Pat Suchy, and Lawrence Miller.

I remember Jerry racing at Tulsa and other tracks in the 60s and early 70s,,,i sure did enjoy him ,,he was a fine Race Car driver. It sure brings back alot of good memorys thinking about him..I found several pics in the scrape books of him at Tulsa and several other tracks .He sure did make Racing fun to watch ..

Everytime i see a 711 store or the saying 711 i always think of Jerry Everhart.

Our hearts and prayers go out to his family and loved ones.. The Belk family and the Johnson familys from SW MO..

Win as if you are use to it.And lose as if you enjoyed
it for a change. Its hard to get to the top and alot
harder to stay there.

Thank you for your post! Jerry was my uncle and I miss him every day, When Jerry and Ruth moved to Arkansas we fished bass events together, Uncle G as I called him fished as hard as he drove his race car and was as good as a fisherman as a driver, We would take turns on who's boat we would take and I could always count on a wild ride at blast off when we took his boat, It was trim up and throttle down man what a blast! What I would give for one more hole shot with him. Thank you once again!

In 1969 when we went to the races we always looked for the out of town cars that did not race every week here in Tulsa. One night in hot laps there was a #62 sedan that was rally flying and we could not here the drivers name and he ran real well in his heat but broke in the feature so we went straight to the 62 sedan after the races and meet one of the owners and he said they broke an axle and he introduced us to his driver "Jerry Everhart" . After that night I always looked for him. Did he drive the Berrhill brothers #16 Edmonds car here in Tulsa some after that?

Ruth Everhart send me the following list of drivers that Jerry Everhart drove for:

"Buddy Cumley, Berryhill brothers (Chili Bowl), Larry Prather, Laverne Nance, Evert Issac, Keith Wirths, Bill Curless, Bud Linstrom and #711 owner Gene Mitchell out of Tulsa. He drove others, but i dont remember all of them."
