Do the guys that ever win these actually race them?? Ever see any of them sell or parts of them sell?? It always looks like they are fantastic cars with good parts, I just cant see them sitting in someone's garage after they win them?

I can't speak for the first 4 they raffled off, or last year's car either for that matter, but the 2005 raffle car was won by Kevin Turner here in Arizona. He and local driver Thomas Ogle bring it out every USAC-CRA event at Manzy, Tucson, and have even towed over to Perris with it.

They are proudly doing what it was designed for. Racing it.

As an additional note to my post above, Kevin had his car out at Manzy Saturday night (5/19) for the USAC-CRA race with Thomas Ogle again behind the wheel.

He led the first 12 laps of the A-Main, was running the cushion and pulling away from the field before a yellow came out to bunch them up. When they went green again, he did a good job of holding them off until he bobbled a bit in turn 2. Almost immediately the car also began smoking, getting worse each lap. He finally pulled in to find out that the oil filter had come loose.

If you are talking about the cars given away at the banquet, I can assure you none of them are sitting around collecting dust...

The Hall of Fame raffle cars were drawn for on live internet broadcast.

Some of the cars have been parted out, some raced.

One thing for sure, no part has gone for long without being raced, even if it was "parted" out

the raffle last year was won by Central New York Mini Sprints Champion Mike Kiser from Cooperstown, NY. He is working on selling the 410 to buy a 360 so he can run more around here in the northeast. So far just has it sitting around.

We did the engine for the SCHoF giveaway in 1998.  It was won by Brandon Rogers in Wichita Falls, Tx.  He had to sell his 360 engine to pay for the taxes on the car.  He raced it when the WoO was around the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.  He sold the engine after a few years.  Not sure what he did with the car.

I know that the year Kevin Turner won it, we did the raffle live on The Full Throttle Racing Show and had Kevin on the show to talk about winning it that night. I believe the car was J&J, the engine a Don Ott peice.

By the way, many thanks to all who donated parts and labor to the program, as well as all who bought chances on the raffle.

Your donations go to a very worthwhile place, the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame.

I'm not sure about the chassis make for the next raffle, but I do know it will have a Shaver Specialties Engine in it.

This is how it did Sat night with USAC/CRA at Manzy, if this is the same sprinter.

"It was nice to see Tom Ogle in the 5AZ check out and have almost a straight a way lead for the first 12 laps. Tom ended up losing an oil filter and that was the cause of the smoke. I am sure his motor builder was glad it was not an engine"
